2Cdo 2Cdo:

Probably the same thread where I said what you accused me of.

Not happy when others do it to you are you.

Still waiting for your retraction.

What you said.

Hey FOG do you honestly expect anything different from andy. He has shown his true feelings about the military on more than one occasion here. His implications in this thread are just further evidence that he is nothing but an oxygen thief out to troll and annoy.

When it comes to the military, not really.

Wed Mar 25, 2015 7:33 am Well, going by comments on this forum, there are no false allegations. If a woman says it happened, it did.

What the defenders of women don't seem to realize is how damaging false accusations are to women who have been raped coming forward and being believed.

Seems to me, if the accusers are given anonymity, so should the accused until they are convicted.

Unless of course this happened in the military and then, it's all bets are off, everyone's guilty and nobody had better disagree or question the findings. ROTFL

But oddly enough his post is accurate because people who make false accusations do a great disservice to the ones with genuine complaints which, is some of what I suspect is happening in the Deschamps inquiry. People exaggerating, people with an axe to grind and people with an agenda mixed in with people with genuine issues.

And trust me I know about false accusations in the military because I and 2 members of my staff were accused of harassment.

As it turned out we were all exonerated because the accuser was a congenital liar and had committed an offense under the code of service discipline which, was only discovered through an thorough investigation. But, when I asked if the accuser would be charged as per QR&O's for making a false accusation I was politely informed that the Military no longer did that because, then some real victims might not come forward.

So, there were no consequences for the accuser and I may be 100% wrong but I'm guessing that she was the type of person Ms. Deschamps inquiry was looking for when they interviewed the alleged victims and the first question was probably.

Have you ever experienced harassment? Not, have you ever experienced harassment, what type of harassment was it, did you report it and what was done about it? Questions which would have given a much better picture of what is really happening in the military today.

But hey, I'm not a former Supreme Court Justice so what do I know about the military? :P

All I have is my last 25 or so years of being in the military to fall back on, that being said I lean more toward Christie Blatchford's article. Not saying there is no problem although I believe there is no more of an epidemic than anywhere else in Canadian society.

Yep, get rid of the manly culture of the military and get rid of the rugged types of guys who enjoy living in substandard conditions for weeks on end in life-threatening situations. And then repopulate the military with a bunch of sensitive types who are more worried about multiculturalism, diversity, and offending anyone

Well, I don't know ...

Besides, I'm getting too old to join the U.S.A.F.

The article was purposely inflammatory, and was meant as a challenge to senior officers to do something quickly about sexual harassment in the military. It had a lopsided view of sexual relations in the military and painted every male in the CAF as a potential (if not current) sexual bully. There were thing that the report has gotten right; the military tends to fuck up things royally once, and a while and when it comes to responding to a sexual assault investigation it is something you never want to fuck up.
So things like having an independent complaint department might be a good idea for the rare instance of egregious sexual assault. However sitting down leadership and giving them new SHARP training will not change much because in an overwhelming amount of instances they were already respectful to women. Personally I think this report will damage camaraderie that some male soldiers have with female soldiers in their unit.
However, like with SHARP training, this effect will only be temporary and the pendulum will start to swing back to sanity. It just means for the next 2-3 years we will all have to sit through more briefings, power point presentations and (shudder) role play situations with harassment advisers. All with the goal of telling us, "Ask a recruit if it is ok to physically touch them before doing so," "Do not use the word cute at any time," "Women soldier are not like male soldiers, so they must be treated differently," "Sexual Assault can include words as well as physical actions, and both are serious, the CAF has a zero tolerance policy."
Also within the next 5 years be prepared for women getting to cut in line (or just having a separate line altogether) for promotions, courses and taskings. I will close this by saying one thing, if you have a bridging crew consisting of 47% women, be prepared for that task taking a long long long time.
