Unsound Unsound:
Ahh just what America needs. More career politicians who have no real life experience.

I know. It would start to look too much like the Progressive caucus if there were too many of those.

Luckily there were also winners like Joni Ernst last night.

We're crossing our fingers for Martha McSally in Arizona.

"She was the first American woman to fly in combat since the 1991 lifting of the prohibition of women in combat, flying the A-10 over Iraq and Kuwait in support of Operation Southern Watch.[1] McSally is also the first woman to command a USAF fighter squadron, the 354th Fighter Squadron (354 FS) based at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base."

She was leading by just 56 votes at 5 AM this morning.

bootlegga bootlegga:

Basically, your 'pretty' Republican ladies are proof of the adage that beauty is only skin deep. :P

As opposed to the core beauty of a dyed in the wool democrat, like say the anti-semite, Helen Thomas, you mean?

Here's a list of the Progressive Caucus.

http://cpc.grijalva.house.gov/caucus-members/

Give me the name of this exemplar of inner beauty from the democratic party.

Shiela Jackson Lee maybe? Maxine Waters? Nancy Pelosi?

I don't know very many of the Congresswomen (of either stripe) very well, but I'd take Elizabeth Warren or Mary Landrieu over any of the GOP hate mongers.

It is in the same way that Cliff Clavin uses English. And this guy was allowed to vote yesterday.

I think it's pretty clear that Obama is going to be a one-term president.

Well...to quote Wikipedia "Landrieu is one of the most conservative Democrats in the Senate" so I don't know what evidence she would be of the superiority of the leftist soul. In any case her chances of surviving a run-off are pretty much nil, so she won't be eligible for the Booties - Lonelyhearts award to Golden-hearted Leftist congress critters much longer.

As to Elizabeth Warren yes, I agree, you don't know much about Liberal congresswomen. If you did you would know why they call her Fauxcahontos, or Lieawatha.

Not to worry, there's a good chance she'll be running in 2016. Us grassroots Conservatives will be happy to educate you then. 8)

Perhaps already mentioned, but if not,

Voters in Oregon and Alaska legalized recreational weed yesterday, as has Washington, D.C.

Medical weed failed in Florida, though it got 57% of the vote. State law required 60% for some weird reason.

So 4 states now have legalized recreational weed, Colorado, Washington state, Oregon, and Alaska, plus DC. Haven't checked recently but something around 30 states have legalized medical marijuana.

Perhaps you should have finished the sentence you quoted;

$1:
Landrieu is one of the most conservative Democrats in the Senate, at times opposing her party's positions, yet she voted in support of President Obama's positions 97% of the time in 2013.

I mentioned two senators specifically because I don't know much about Congress, Democrat or Republican. They change so often that about the only ones I do know are the party leaders.

Frankly, I could care less what some rabidly partisan blogger calls Warren or anyone else for that matter.

Don't bother - Faux News does a wonderful job of educating me about beautiful yet hate filled conservative women - wonderful people like Michelle Bachmann who is all for indentured slavery (via no minimum wage laws), "Death Panel Palin" and Anne Coulter who would remove the voting rights of women who don't share her world view.

About the only decent 'pretty' right wing person I can think of is S.E. Cupp, and she is merely tolerable (yes I know she isn't elected).

I used to think that just the men in the GOP were horrible people, like the "Legitimate Rape" Akin or Russ Limbaugh (who thinks women's suffrage is a bad thing), but over time, it's become apparent that there are plenty of horrible women on the right too.

No, you can keep your pretty, hate-filled right-winger corporatists and I'll stick with the not-so-pretty people who actually care about average people.

You don't know any of them but that won't stop you from calling the Republicans "hate mongers".

Asshole.

Well, conservative Christians managed to get this guy elected in Colorado Springs. From all appearances he's kind of the 'human' equivalent of a bunch of half-chewed pimentos floating in a bucket filled with vomit underneath a hand-written sign that says "Free Polio Inside!", so maybe that 'hate-monger' descriptive really isn't all that uncalled for.

I really do love your country, Bart, and all it's supposed to stand for. But, man, you guys really deserve what's coming to you after what you chose to do to yourselves on Tuesday night. The full boots-on-the-ground re-investment into Iraq (and Syria) that's now inevitably coming is probably the least worst thing that's going to happen. :|

Unsound Unsound:
Based entirely on what I've read here, this seems almost like an "orange crush" kind of situation. Can the GOP hang on to these gains?

That's up to Obama.

If he goes into dictator mode to grant amnesty to 20 million illegal immigrants then he can expect that the next President will be a Republican working with a Republican-controlled Congress.

Illegal immigrant rights are popular with the insane wing of the liberal left and it's unpopular with pretty much everyone else.

Seeing blacks move from the Democrat party to the GOP should speak to their evolving opinions on being disenfranchised and displaced by illegals from Mexico and Central America.

We're also seeing the inklings of push-back on the moslem issue. Obama and the Dems totally flubbed policy in the Middle East and the Benghazi atrocity where Obama and Hillary sat on their hands while a gay US Ambassador was tortured, raped, and murdered by a moslem mob will not go away. Obama's public admission of having no policy or strategy for dealing with ISIS also will reverberate come 2016.

The Dems have an uphill climb for 2016 and what Obama does next will probably make it harder.
