I hope you dont use that philosophy with (crime) victims. 8O

You're right in your general sentiment. Not every soldier with PTSD would be a good candidate for this particular brand of therapy.

There's logically a similarity between a crime victim and say a soldier whose PTSD is tied to being a victim of an IED or maybe one of those lovely Green-on-Blue attacks.

But then you have soldiers whose PTSD is sourced to other causes (too many deployments, battle fatigue, survivor guilt, etc.) who might benefit from using shooting to clear their heads or maybe to just feel familiar or 'normal' again.

Yup I agree, therapy should be tailored to the individual, but by a professional therapist.

I'm sure you're eminently qualified to make that statement.

Eminent is an appropriate word choice, given the subject.

I would have responded earlier, but I was occupied.

Sad story. The war never ends for many.

More vets are dying from suicide than were killed in Iraq. PTSD is the silent killer. Vets are not alone. 8 times more cops die at their own hands than are killed on US streets by bad guys. Similar stats per capita up here. Those that serve pay a price.
