$1: Bethlehem. A week before Christmas, there was only a handful of tourists snapping photos of the huge decorated tree in Manger Square, with its strings of red and white lights. The large plaza in front of the Church of the Nativity was nearly empty except for a handful of visiting clergy.
Chalk the absence of visitors up to President Donald Trump's Jerusalem speech, which outraged Muslims, scared off tourists, and unnerved Christian clerics. Why would outraged Muslims be Trump's fault? The Muslims have found something new to be outraged about, have they? They were outraged before and they're outraged now? Again? Still? Christians have been fleeing Bethlehem for years. So now the scattered remnants of the Christian population can't keep the birthplace of Christ open during Christmas. Well, surprise, surprise. I know. Let's join Justin and take the knee to our new Islamic masters or outrage. ' You were outraged first you win.' Is that the new rule? Not!

GreenTiger GreenTiger: Iran won't like us anymore, Saudi Arabia won't be overly happy either. The big danger here is that Saudi Arabia will take back the gold medal they gave Trump.

stratos stratos: Vbeacher Vbeacher: Islam has EVERYTHING to do with it.
And that's the problem right there. Everyone is so worried about Islam and don't give a shit about the Jews or Christians. My point was that if Christians had ruled in the middle east in the 1940s and the Jews moved in there wouldn't be a huge issue. If Hindus or Buddhists or, hell, Druids lived there there wouldn't be a huge issue. But Muslims hate Jews, just to begin with (generally). Also Muslims have this notion that once a land is ruled by Islam it must be ruled ever after by Islam. Their fundamentalists still think of Spain as a place in rebellion that needs to be reconquered. You think they'll accept a non-Muslim ruled nation in the middle of lands they regards as theirs? Never!

Oh piss off with your anti-Islam bullshit on Christmas Day FFS.
You see any Christians whining because the Embassy's not in Jerusalem? You can see Palestinian Christians marching against the idea. Go celebrate with a drink to Guatemala, America's new bumboy state.

herbie herbie: Oh piss off with your anti-Islam bullshit on Christmas Day FFS. I know your head is currently located deep within your rectal cavity, comrade, but the illogical nature of your indignation is laughable. I'm supposed to be nice to people who reject Christianity because it's Christmas? Plus as a devoted member of the far left you despise Christianity anyway, and relentlessly sneer at its adherents and all they believe in! Anyway, all I did was write the truth. And your ilk does not have the power to make that illegal, much as you would wish otherwise.

herbie herbie: You can see Palestinian Christians marching against the idea. Can you? That's interesting. Show me what you're talking about. It wouldn't surprise me though. From what I've heard the Christians of the disputed territories have mostly fled or would like to, but of those that are left a significant portion are being made Dhimmis. You know what is, right? A Dhimmi. If not look it up. But basically, they'll do what the Muslims want. However, that doesn't mean there aren't Arab Christians harboring animosity to the Jews all on their own or finding ways to advantage alliance with the PA. I imagine there are some. But the Christian population in the disputed territories (call it the West Bank if you like) is shrinking while the Muslim population is growing. The Christian population in Israel itself is growing.

$1: Bethlehem mayor: We 'toned down' Christmas celebrations after Trump's Jerusalem decision
December 26, 2017 - 02:34 PM EST Bethlehem mayor: We 'toned down' Christmas celebrations after Trump's Jerusalem decision Getty Images
By Jacqueline Thomsen 948 The mayor of Bethlehem said the city “toned down” its Christmas celebrations after President Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The Palestinian city, known as the biblical birthplace of Jesus Christ and located only a few miles from Jerusalem, kept Christmas events limited this year in response to Trump’s decision, Mayor Anton Salman said.
“We decided to limit the Christmas celebrations to the religious rituals as an expression of rejection and anger and sympathy with the victims who fell in the recent protests,” he said, according to the New York Daily News. “We want to show the people that we are people who deserve life, deserve our freedom, deserve our independence, deserve Jerusalem as our capital,” he said.
The Jerusalem Post also reported Tuesday that fewer tourists traveled to the city this year than in the past.
Local residents told The Jerusalem Post that tourists were deterred from traveling to Bethlehem after clashes broke out along the West Bank following Trump’s decision.
Palestinian students reportedly handed out flyers that read “Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine” to visitors to the city... http://thehill.com/policy/international ... -christmas

I don't think you're one to be throwing around aspersions on other peoples intelligence, Beave. In fact, how'd you like to try something novel? How'd you like to actually learn something. Here's one from the left. https://www.haaretz.com/middle-east-new ... s/1.830920A Glimpse Into the Life of the West Bank's Last ChristiansTry something you've never done before. Read the whole article. Learn that this idea you have there are these monster mobs of "Palestinian Christians" raging to join the Muslims in their next intifada is nonsense. They're a sad tiny remnant of the Holy Land doing whatever they have to, to hang on or get out. $1: Rafat Alsoos has seen most of his Palestinian family and friends leave the West Bank since 2000, echoing the exodus of Arab Christians from the Middle East. To compound matters, he’s also the only pig farmer in an area that’s increasingly Muslim They can be pitied perhaps, but not held up as an example of strength in alliance to the Palestinian cause of the Islamics. This idea you have where Muslims are kind of the Melissa Click of Palestine calling for some 'muscle over here' with Palestinian Christians running to comply is ridiculous. It's stupid. Pushing it is a little more stupid than a joke meme.

Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the apostolic administrator of Jerusalem says:
“There is no peace if someone is excluded. Jerusalem should include, not exclude. The mother, Jerusalem is our mother, loves all her children. If one is missing, the mother cannot be in peace.”
I don't see where Trump is disagreeing with that by moving the Amercian embassy to Jerusalem as has been planned for decades.
