Proculation Proculation:
Every male in Switzerland has a mandatory military training and keep their ASSAULT rifle at home. They can carry it. They also have to train every year. And it is one of the more peaceful country on Earth. You can have guns without killing everyone in your sight... I will say like ridenrain: I guess those who have a problem with guns are those who should not have one because they could be dangerous.
That's a very.... very very bad example.
Every male in Switzerland gets mandatory training, and go through a load of background checks, taught responsibility, etc. etc.
Those in the US have completely avoided this whole service to their country and just think it's their God Given Right to own any gun they want, carry a gun anywhere they go, and use their gun as they please.
Very little background checks, very little training for most, very little education on responsibility, etc. in the US..... Oh and did I also mention that there's no mandatory requirement for any of these people in the US to serve their country, even though that same amendment they keep prancing around with states so??
Let's look at it shall we?
Here's both versions:
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."All the Pro-Gunners down there always.... ALWAYS just use the end of the amendment, but seem to think the whole part about a Militia being necessary is part of some seperate sentence.
It's all one sentence, it all relates to one another. In order to maintain a Militia that is well regulated, people have the right to bear arms and it shall not be infringed.
The majority of these people are not part of any Militia nor have any plans on joining up. If none of these people are joining up to defend their country, such as what's done in your above example of Switzerland, these people are not being a part of this militia that is "well regulated", Therefore the amendment doesn't apply as any form of protection of their rights, unless they sign up and have no issue with serving their country with their weapon when needed.
Not to mention none of these people are getting the very important education and training from this militia to be sure that risks are greatly reduced in their hands.
This is why your Switzerland example doesn't seem to relate very well.
I'd trust a Swiss with their firearm then I would an average American with a mini-gun strapped to their arse.
