I was walking around in florida and a guy had a rifle slung over his shoulder. Maybe use your head and not bring it to where the president is, but if it isn't illegal, then why is it news? Why is it worse to bring a rifle instead of a pistol when it's pretty obvious that someone is about to fire a rifle as opposed to a pistol. A pistol should be considered worse.

Here's your dangerous gun owners being asaulted by Obama's union goons.
Who's the danger to democracy again?

I think democracy is in far more danger by crooks like Acorn and their false voter registrations than some law abiding armed citizens surrounded bu police and press.

tell that to Toronto or Calgary or Vancouver..how many drive by's are we up to now?

Im in toronto and nobody here feels unsafe without a gun. Besides most of the shootings here (still a fraction of what a US city of similar size has) are between people who know eachother, ie drug deals gone bad, gang grudges etc. If you're not a part of that world, you have nothing to fear.

hum strange, wasn't that 15 yo girl a bystander, I don't think she knew anyone when she was gunned down.

I could be wrong though, but I doubt it.

$1:
you should hear how dumb you sound!

Wow, one girl FOUR YEARS AGO!!! And if she had a gun she'd STILL BE DEAD because she was a bystander when a bunch of ghetto and wanna-be ghetto low-lifes shot at eachother in an area where shootings almost never happen!!!!

You know what, I work less than two blocks from there and I don't wish to have a gun and am not afraid. Neither are the overwhelming majority of us here in 'liberal stonghold" Toronto which is a pro-gun control city if ever there was one! If you don't know that then YOU'RE the dummy!

During the so-called "summer of the gun," in 2005, our worst year of gun crime this decade, Toronto had 52 gun and 78 total homicides in a city of 2.5 million. The vast majority were gang-related where the victim was "known to police." Any US city of similar size has far worse record than that.

History shows that it is the governments that don't allow citizens to carry arms that end up commiting the worst crimes of humanity.....against their own people!

All of those 'anti-gun' types have a bad track record. They are not to be trusted.

Oh please not the acorn voter registration thing again! I thought rumour had been banished to the far right corners of the blogoshpere.

ACORN IS THE ONE WHO DISCLOSED TO THE GOV'T THE PHONEY NAMES ON THE VOTER FORMS. BY LAW THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO THROW THEM OUT.

They pay kids by the hour to go door to door and instead the kids take the money and write "mickey mouse" and "donal duck" on the forms and take off with the money. ACORN separated those ones out from the rest, notified the authorities and turned them in. It's not a mystery. AND unless somebody shows up on voting day with ID saying they're Mickey Mouse, they can't vote anyway!

The real enemy are the corporate powers who have a direct interest shaping right-wing policy to increase their multi-trillion-dollar rip-off from the average citizens. Evil ACORN is in it for what, exactly?

Still trying to figure out why this is an issue when even the Secret Service said it wasn't an issue. More fodder by the liberal media that cannot accept that the Supreme Court upheld our constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

Actually it's more about trying to understand how an effort to provide health care coverage for people who have none somehow got turned into an excuse to wave firearms at the President of the United States of America. And trying to understand also why some people think that this kind of behaviour is sane and publically acceptable.

Beaver. I'm not going to jump off topic on that or the safety of Toronto because it's besides the point. The point is that the folks who showed up with guns proved a danger to no one except the frail sensabilities of the loony left.

And the loony left now includes people who think that decent public behaviour and dissent via rational means is preferable to open displays of intimidation with semi-automatic firearms.

The only people making a fuss over it was the press and obviously, it didn't keep them away. Again, I'd say the bus loads of union hacks are a greater threat to public discussions.

like I said, showing up with guns and banners that implicity advocate the assasination of politicians and staged hostile confrontations (deliberately disrupting and shouting down the meetings is hostile in itself, regardless of what happens outside) all in opposition to a very modest proposal for a public insurance option is INSANE. Most of these people think Obama is a secret muslim who is allied with terrorists and has some secret plan to rule America. The guy has been in office less than a year and so far has not done a single thing that Bush didn't do. That is the loony right. I bet you think there's no such thing as a right-wing extremist or being too far to the right, but buddy you're witnessing it.
