EyeBrock EyeBrock:
Ok, I know Derby to be a supporter of the police ( as well as our Canadian Forces). On this one I think Derby is a bit previous to judge. Like all of us I can only go on media coverage to glean information on this alleged ‘incident’.
There are problems that I perceive with our little ‘victims’ story.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I did not see any damage to a door that would lead us to believe the door was ‘kicked in’?
I cannot believe officers going to a noise/disturbance call at an apartment building ( with eyes everywhere) went into the call with pistols drawn. Sorry that’s just too far off the training track.
I watched CTV interviewing the kid and his family. The kid was smirking throughout, hardly traumatised.
His parents seemed initially unconcerned and had to be led into a statement of ‘disgust’ by the news reporter. Hardly spontaneous.
The 10 year-old was left to his own devices with friends. Not good parenting and paints a picture of the kid’s unsupervised home life.
These are merely my observations and not a definitive set of arguments.
Those of you lambasting Derby as a ‘cop-hater’ are well off the mark. On this debate I tend to think that he has taken up with one side without considering the other but I put that down to his response to some very rude comments from some posters.
Really, all this personalising of threads and the resulting piss-poor way people are treating each other is quite deplorable.
We can make a point without personal insults, a few of you should try it.
I have always found Derby to have conducted himself very well in my dealings with him. We are polar opposites politically (and on some other issues!) but I respect him and his viewpoints. I respectfully suggest others try to bring some decorum to debates within these threads.
Last of all, I don’t think anybody should jump to any real conclusions until the internal investigation is concluded. We have heard one side of the argument so far. I would qualify this knowing that inquiry is subject to the rules of the Ontario Civilian Commission on Police Services and is taken very seriously by the Province and the Police.
I'll wait for the outcome of the complaint.
He reminds me of an entire volume that was dedicated to 'problem personalities' in the original rpg of Dungeons and Dragons. Very insecure and on a mission to prove to everyone how great he is.
He would be the 'warrior brute' with average inteligence. But, he would role play the character like it was an effen genious. Warriors come marching into a room, he'd have the warrior cutting peep holes to see if it is safe to enter a room.
The kind of person that you cant tease without starting a personal grudge war.
