Oh Gunny! Why so angry all the time?

Yeah, EB, let's go back and look at the bad cop bashing thread and see who's angry all of the time.

The flippant retort is telling.

Give us a break Gun....you have the balls to claim I'm grumpy when you are, by far, the most outspoken grumpy prick on this forum.

You spend your time running from post to post telling people they're wrong and when they don't agree with you, you start into your usual tirade of personal insults or attempts to paint the OP as less intelligent than you.

You may not see it but we all do. You argue for the sake of arguing. You get off on it. You enjoy insulting people and more specifically, their intelligence. You enjoy talking down to people.

You claim others are always angry when in fact, the only likely angry person in all of this is you..

Sorry, OTI, you're a bigger buzzkill than Buzz Killington here. You travel about the threads playing the absolute misery than have the balls to give me grief when I get into it with a poster.

Sorry, I'm comfortable with my posting history and online persona, which is, I'll say with a bit of not so modest horn trumpeting here, supported by my rep points handed out by a variety of right and left posters some of which I don't even always get along with. I also don't shy away from taking even online friends to task, unlike your cheer leading ass where political and forum hackery is taken to new lows with you.

I'll play the grumpy prick on many occasion - you however, have made your online career here by playing the forum's permanent miserable unfun hypocrite.

Hwacker would be proud though at least Hwacker had something to offer.

^^^ The question is, Brenda, "Do you include yourself in my -"many immigrant groups- statement"?

It does not matter. I include myself in "immigrant".

So, If I had said " some immigrants are just plain bad-asses, nothing but trouble, drug dealers & pimps, child molesters, etc, etc.", because I used the word 'immigrants' you would feign indignation to that statement as well? Get over yourself!

Exchange immigrants with Albertans. That's okay then, right?

Some immigrants do scummy rotten things. Some immigrants demand too much accommodation. (Of course some native born people do too). There is no indication anywhere that in this case it was immigrants that pushed for this law to be inserted in the school act.

But, Yogi, you seem to know differently, 'cause your buddy told you so. So what did he tell you? I'm dying to know what scummy immigrant group demanded this law be enacted?

I don't think schools should be holding remembrance day ceremonies at all, since by definition they can't be held on remembrance day. Instead, spend some class time before the day presenting the relevant material. Which it sounds like they do anyway.

And so it shall remain, at least until you hear about it 'in the news'!

Challenged and you copped out.

That was quick.

They're not immigrants. They are workers.
Who, btw, do not pay taxes in The Netherlands.

Attending a remembrance day ceremony does not repay the debt owed these men and woman that we honour by having a ceremony in the first place. Opting out of the ceremony is part of the freedom that was fought for.

Canadian History is not something that be opted out of for students and thats where this belongs. Students should learn how much their freedom actually cost and then make more informed decisions for their lives.

Who said it was the immigrants fault? My view is that we, as in those who are here already, have collectively failed to ensure the torch is passed to newcomers through education.

Most newcomers don't give enough of a damn to begin with. They shuttle off into their ethnic enclaves, take all the freebies there is to be had, and collectively give the Maple Leaf the finger when convenient for them.

Yes, there are a few who come to Canada to be Canadian and share in our values and whatnot, but they are just that - few and far between.

I guess the above is why people want to call me racist because I'm against large scale immigration. It's got nothing to do with what CDN wrote above, it's that it makes no sense to me to import so many people when we have Canadians out of work. We also last year had 450,000 temp workers in Canada. Insane. At least it sounds like people are waking up a bit with the Chinese miners situation.

Reducing the number of immigrants would also help with any problems of assimilation, because it would put more pressure on them to fit in rather than forming ethnic enclaves. As far as taking freebies from the govt, I would say it's First Nations, Native born and then immigrants in that order. The people sitting on pogy in the Maritimes, those are white, native born Canadians. Welfare isn't an option for anybody, but certainly immigrants use it less than native born Canadians. (Is my impression, doubt anybody keeps racial stats here). Immigrants, by their nature, will be more inclined to push to get ahead. That's why they come here. (But it's true that immigrants since the 80's are having more trouble improving their lot than immigrants before that time, ie immigrants mainly from Europe. Language and cultural issues probably play a role here, maybe also that the 80's is when the middle class started having the shit kicked out of it.)

Odd, I've sailed with many a new comer who, upon coming to Canada, were so thankful that they signed up to serve Canada in uniform. One memorable fella was Chinese, barely spoke English, was in his late 40s when he signed up for Boot Camp. He was a Chief Engineer before on merchant ships but gladly became a jr engineer in the RCN. One of the hardest working guys I know.

Nope, I've served with a lot of immigrants who signed up to serve and have a hell of a lot more respect for them than your born in Canada but couldn''t be bothered to serve but will sit in your basement railing on immigrants ass.

None. Deep thinker here doesn't require it.
