The truth is, if there was a treaty in place, and I am far from educated regarding the treaty surrounding Caledonia, it must be upheld.


As for for the topic digression regarding natives rights, the fact that Natives were forcibly removed to make way for European settlers is still quite disturbing to this day. European Canadians owe them, we more recent settlers owe them, and they owe it to themselves to become a part of this great society and end the marginalization.

They can't do that by collecting welfare and mis-managing it.

This is a reminder of South Africa, although Europeans failed miserably trying to settle Africa, and it is still debated to this day why, it is native Americans who can take cue from some cases where Europeans did find success.

Natives need to become politically active, at 4% of the population they have more leverage than the largest visible minority settler group. What they need is organization and unity.

Perhaps the 'redman' can learn from the 'blackman' of sub tropical Africa, the only "hunter gatherer" to successfully reclaim every single inch of land taken by Europeans one way or another.

I'm not saying natives will turn Canada into South Africa, they don't have the demographics, but they surely can use political leverage strongly in their favor to become an integral part of Canada, and not be treated like squatters on their ancestral land.

Further digressing slightly from the main topic, Africa is now theirs to ruin. They can do whatever they wish with their own country. They can live as first class citizens dirt broke and poor oppressed by an evil dictator, but at least its their own created misery.

The natives are really living good in Canada? Clean water and all? Good job opportunity? Crime free communities?

At least Africans have millionaires, mansions, skyscrapers, middle classes, thriving businesses, and so on, it might be 5% of the population of every country, but its 5% more than natives in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand can ever possibly imagine. In fact, the richest black in the world is a Nigerian oil tycoon (from Fortune magazine), followed by an Ethiopian Saudi Oil Tycoon, not American Oprah, as based on popular belief.

How many natives can claim top spot for anything other than the worst societal ranks in the Americans, or Oceania?

Within a few generations the native population will have been bred out of existence for the most part, except for a few small pockets in the far north and dense bush. Donny talks about their growing numbers, but what he doesn't mention is that this is the result of intermarriage with caucasian Canadians. Many holding treaty cards now, have more European ancestry than Amerind ancestry. It's unfortunate that it's happening, but happen it will, through free choice - who we marry and bed.
