Oh Gunny! Why so angry all the time?

Yeah, EB, let's go back and look at the bad cop bashing thread and see who's angry all of the time.

The flippant retort is telling.

Rememberance Day is about the most important reason that Canada is THE CANADA that the immigrants 'supposedly' CHOSE to leave their countries of birth, and come here for. Yet, so often, they come here, and the first order is to grab onto all the freebies that we so generously offer to them, all the while denying our Veterans, and then they- many immigrant groups-proceed to point the barrel of human rights, and freedoms at us in order to change the 'Canadian way' to 'whatever way' they were supposedly escaping!

Again, wtf does this have to do with immigrants? Which immigrants are you alluding to that didn't want their kids to attend Remembrance Day?

It's been interesting reading thru the last few pages of comments from posters such as yourself who know fuck all about the reason behind the opt-out decision!I expected nothing less from you.
From Gunny, I certainly expected more than a 'shoot from the lip' reaction. And Brenda, GO BACK and read my original post carefully, then drop the feigned indignation. It's beneath you.

Question: How many of the Posters on this thread have included in their circle of close personal friends, and fishing buddies, an Official of an ALBERTA PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM?

That many! WOW! I thought so!

The news reports mentions nothing of immigrants but you do. Are you suggesting your drinking buddy is feeding you a line that this mandate is due to their protests?

Okay...drop everything. The name drop ends the discussion.

Now you are being petty. What's up Gunny? Why are you looking to pick a fight?

I don't think it's petty at all. As stated, I simply find it highly ironic you roll in here bashing immigrants based on no facts in the story but bitch out those in the cop bashing thread who actually had a few more facts.

And saying you're not making it an issue with immigrants is disingenuous at best since your comments were explicitly directed at immigrants.

Born and bred folks who don't go get the pass though.

As for picking a fight, no. But I do tire of the usual suspects bitching about immigrants not willing to do their part and learn about Canada. All those 1st gens who I sailed with did a hell of a lot more for Canada when they donned the uniform than some others who did not but still seem to reserve the right to complain about them.

Now I understand where you got your point of view from. ASSUMPTIONS! Since you didn't hear about it 'in the news' it ain't so!

And, I don't have even 1 'drinking buddy'!

Actually, my point of view was questioning the assumptions that this was inspired by immigrants in the first place.

No 'assumption' on my part!

Federal [b Immigration[/b] Minister Jason Kenney said it best-

"I find it offensive," Kenney tweeted. "They don't opt out of the freedoms secured by our war dead."

I did.
"IMMIGRANTS only want to freebies and don't care"
What people seem to forget, is that I am an immigrant. There are many with me. Many hard working, Canada loving, would-love-to-see-improvement-at-some-points immigrants.

Over and over and over again, whenever something happens, it is the IMMIGRANTS (which includes me, whether you like it or not) that "want it". Really?

So because that one kid is allergic to peanuts, the whole school goes peanut free, but hey, he wasn't born here, so it is "THE IMMIGRANTS"?

Seriously, it is insulting.

How many people from small towns are on here, so how big is the chance they are either related or close friends to anyone on any school board? Exactly.

Oh... evidence submitted that links this story to complaints by immigrants is based on a tweet?

Jesus, man, why the hell didn't you say so before? That changes absolutely everything here and I retract my post.

Well now, that makes it different. They ought to be pilloried then deported back to the shithole they came from. If they think they can come here and exercise freedom of choice and conscience well they've got another thing coming.

This is Canada after all!

So, according to your iterpretation, "They" obviously being immigrants simply because the politician tweeting is the minister of immigration? And, as minister of immigration, he supposedly knows what immigrants are doing on rememberance day and how they feel about it? And all immigrants are the same and can be judged together as one group?

FTR, I don't think it's appropriate for the minister of immigration to be sending out anti-immigrant tweets.

Yes.

Maybe it was not even an anti-immigrant tweet, but just a "everyone who allows their child to opt out is an ass imo"-tweet. Which is still not correct for a minister anyway.

That's how it works - mind, do that with other topics and feel the wrath.

Immigrants are open season though for some reason.
