Gunny, I think some of the non-religious have valid points as do you Christians. Two sides to this one mate.
Agreed,
two sides to it.
There's two sides and there aren't. When it comes to the theist-atheist question, yes, there are two sides, neither are able to prove their point. To debate the existence of a supreme being, creator, whatever, can be a stimulating exercise, but both positions must enter such a debate admitting the possibility that they're wrong. It's not provable.
But if we're talking about organized religion then no, there are not two sides. There is not a human-conceived religion that correctly explains creation. And if you chose to bring human-constructed fairy tales to scientific discussions, you deserve whatever shit you take. There aren't two sides to the age of the earth. There aren't two sides to the process of evolution.
If theists want the atheists to stand down, all they have to say is "You don't know how things are, do you?" Then the atheist will say, "No, I don't". Then we can all agree to disagree and move on. But if the theist wants to bring up the "Yeah, but the bible says" argument, then they deserve whatever dose of reality they don't want to hear.
What a shock you'd roll in looking for round two. Start tossing the shit then and see where it takes us.[/quote]
