Ugh. This woman needs to go.

Yup, as far as I'm concerned if you don't have a riding you shouldn't get a seat in the televised debates they're fucked up enough as it is.

Agreed. Having May in the last set of debates added nothing and only served as a distracting side show but they'll probably do it again.

On the debate format itself, I hope they go with something different this year. I really haven't been impressed with the way they've been done over the last few elections.

Quite frankly I think more people should be less concerned with the leader and more concerned with the platform. Its entirely the reason why our politics/politicians suck so bad. Its a popularity contest rather then a "who can run the country best" or a "what party ideology best suits me".

Would the Greens do better with somebody like David Suzuki in charge? How about an Ed Begley Jr. He very much lives and extols the green message. People like to make fun of the green save the planet type of people. It helps alleviate the guilt they secretly harbour that they are helping to destroy the planet for future generations.

The Greens platform in the last election was nothing more than laughable. For anyone who is serious about the environment it was all feathers with no chicken. May is a wing nut, about the only positive thing positive I can say about her is that she has helped draw attention to her party (and not all ways in a good way) by being so damn persistent, outlandish and annoying.

And on your first point, I think the fact that Harper is sitting in the PM’s seat disproves that. Personally I think Iggy and Layton are a hell of a lot more personable than Harper but I think people voted for the party who they thought could best manage the economy. You can’t tell me it was Harper himself who won over the masses via a popularity contest.

The Greens would be better served by a leader who people could take more seriously but for now I think they enjoy a default vote from those who would vote for anything green so I can’t see her hurting their cause to any great degree in the mean time.

My confirmation bias would be that the lefties are the better people, because they care about others more.

Jack cares about people.

Jack cares so much, that when he was on Toronto council, he lived in Metro Housing, taking up a spot supposed to be for low income and subsidized living.

But Jack will tell you it was OK, cause he was paying full rent...ignoring the fact that he was taking up a spot for someone who needed it.

Yup the format needs changing in a bad way. I wonder if it's going to be french first for the third time in a row. Does anyone know why it's always french first ?

Cause if it's not all semblance of discussion of the issues will be lost while everyone tries to explain that it wasn't meant as an insult to the entire Quebecois nation, while the bloc and others of their ilk try to milk it for more federal money or support for seperatism.

I agree they do a wonderful job of splitting the vote between the NDP and Libs.

Dont you think it would be hilarious if May missed in her riding but a green elsewhere in the country won theirs?

This other candidate would have to have the statesmanship of Winston Churchill with the wisdom of Gandhi in order to make it. May will be sucking all of the party funds into winning her seat, so I doubt the other Green candidates will have enough funds to buy magic markers to make signs on the back of used cardboard.

I guess every North American Democracy needs its Female Kook for some reason. You have Elizabeth May and we have Sara Palin although Elizabeth does seem to have a brain.

Yeah but Palin has the whole MILF thing. I'd rather have someone who's unelectable and eye candy to boot as opposed to someone who's unelectable and is as attractive as my armpit. If May actually had a brain she wouldn't be running for the Greens, let alone leading it.

I see your point.
