Here they always do the complete opposite, EB. They were predicting 5cm but just upgraded to "5 to 10cm". It's blowing around though with 60km gusts until tomorrow night.

The extreme cold weather alerts are called when Environment Canada predicts a temperature of -15 C without wind chill, or predicts extreme weather conditions such as a blizzard.
Funny, I don't recall seeing one issued in Edmonton this winter - and we've had far colder temperatures than -15 C.
