Freakinoldguy Freakinoldguy:

Drugs drive crime, especially in a port city like Vancouver, he says. And feeding drug habits is the key cause of B.C. property theft. Vancouver police are monitoring 379 chronic criminals with an average of 39 convictions each. Perversely, the jail time given the worst of these drops as their number of convictions rise, a study by the department found.

Given this fact, we don't need more prisons, we just need more victims.

Once again the Liberal left has the population reaping the rewards of their years of politically correct and humane crime fighting stratagies.
Right: Living in Saskatoon, now kicked off the podium, but still infamous, I can say I go through my days in such fear for my life and property that I go around armed to the teeth. Who knows what terrors lurk just around the corner. My neighbour may decide to begin shooting out of her second floor window so I always keep a loaded shotgun, loaded with SSG of course, so I can blast her from her perch before she has an opportunity to destroy the whole neighbourhood. Life is tough in these mean streets and I plan to be ready! I want thousands of prison cells built to house the criminals that swarm across our streets and parks spilling into our backyards and invading our homes. I want the cells to be bare so they can really suffer for the fear they put into my breast.

Yes if we, the honest paying taxpayers of Saskatoon, were allowed our rights to pack the biggest f***en gun around on our hips, and anyone who disturbs our sense of peace were locked up in bare prison cells for ever, joy would descend on our land and we would all live in peace and happiness forever!

Curtman Curtman:
Why is this thread about Winnipeg? The top two cities, and half of the ten are in B.C..

$1:
Maclean's complete top 10, beginning with the most dangerous:

Prince George, B.C.
Victoria, B.C.
Regina, Sask.
Saskatoon, Sask.
Fort McMurray, Alta.
Kelowna, B.C.
Grande Prairie, Alta.
Surrey, B.C.
Chilliwack, B.C.
Winnipeg, Man.

Because the article also says "Saskatoon has the highest crime ranking in the Maclean’s survey, 163 per cent above the national average. Winnipeg ranks second with a crime score 153"

Not sure which list you are quoting but right here http://www2.macleans.ca/2009/03/04/the- ... 94by-rank/ it says:

The Most Dangerous Cities in Canada: Overall crime score—by rank
2009 Maclean’s National Crime Rankings

"SASKATOON 206365 163.23% 1
WINNIPEG 653733 152.98% 2
REGINA 183540 135.74% 3
PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. 73911 126.95% 4
EDMONTON 763732 110.36% 5
CHILLIWACK, B.C. "

Overall crime?

5 B.C. cities on 'most dangerous' list

$1:
The 2010 list is based on Statistics Canada's Crime Severity Index, which was developed just last year. Unlike a traditional crime rate, the new CSI measurement gives more weight to serious crimes, with murder rated highest and marijuana possession rated lowest.

You know.. Real crime, not "unreported" crime.

Of course your right, being in the top 2 of the cities with the most crime is not noteworthy. I suppose you're ready to buy a house for your family in the north end now that its all hugs and kisses here.

No, actually I own a house in the West End, which has a higher crime rate than the North End.

Politics 101: Sound scarier, get more votes

$1:
Lost in all that fear mongering are some known facts: Crime in Winnipeg is going down. Although violent crime remains up, it is for the most part limited to a handful of the most challenged neighbourhoods. And it probably deserves mentioning that many of these neighbourhoods fall just west or just north of what we define as the downtown. It is most prevalent among socially and economically disadvantaged groups. It's victims typically know their attackers. Many identify with a criminal lifestyle. The gross majority

Ah look, Canada's most dangerous cities have the highest percentage of Natives.

I'm waiting for someone to blame multiculturalism.

We own a home in River Heights in Winnipeg. Like I've said before, 10% of Winnipeg is responsible for 90 % of the crime. The trouble spots tend to be pockets found in the west end and just north of Portage and west of Main, although Point Douglas is no haven of safety either. A buddy of mine has a house out in The Maples and it's quiet there too.

Wouldn't it be easier to just blame the indians?
