Actually, the vast majority of Alberta drivers aren't Albertan's - they're Newfies or Ontarians.

Yeah right!

The next time someone complains about the separatists in Québec, I'll say they're Albertans that moved here.

I'm not even kidding.

At work (22 of us), the majority are from Newfoundland and Ontario. Three are from BC and about 5 of us are born and raised Albertans.

I like how they're all so polite the pull to the right to let you pass.
Only it's always at the crest of a hill or a blind corner.
Then just like BC drivers, when there's a passing lane, their motorhome can go 140 in the right lane, and they think the right lane has the right of way over the passing lane.
You can tell the Albertans too. Soon as they see the sign that the passing lane ends ahead, the brake lights come on.

The flatland Albertans are afraid of hills, I've seen them riding their brakes for a river hill FFS.

But in their defense, there isn't much interesting road out here to challenge themselves on.

I'm not too sure about driving skills, but I can tell ya, never seen worse PARKING skills than since I moved to Alberta. All those straight lines in parking lots actually mean something people!!! If they F*&% like they park, they must never get in!!!

Or is it, the one who takes up the most parking spots wins? (A game I've started to play much to WRG's chagrin) I'm sorry, if you can't figure out how to park your 2010 F550 Crew Cab, long box, dually (EDIT) with chrome bull balls hanging from your hitch, so that you don't take up 6 parking spots, maybe you should have left the damn thing in the wheat field!

Not just Albertans. Not many of the people I have seen on the road here know how to drive.
Which is not weird, considering all you have to do is take a 25 minute driving test, and no mandatory lessons

Yeah, I knew at some point mandatory courses were going to pop up,

another government program coming.

Yes, Sask drivers suck, I get regularly people actually trying to hit me even though I have a bright red car in the middle of nowhere yet these people don't know a stop sign or a yield sign or a four way stop or the right of way. Pedestrians bitch and whine about things but they are just as stupid as drivers as they stay, stop or stand there and even though you stop for them they just look at the sky like high hippies, then 10 seconds later you start to move your car they come out of their comatose state and start walking and then we got the whole 'car drivers are at fault' or 'pedestrians are stupid' thing.

Alberta drivers lack basic skills........, don't get me started on idiotic Eastern Canadian driving off-road in your face antics. Especially in the GTA. Makes driving through the Calgary/Edmonton corridor look like a slippery shit. Everybody lacks basic skills, don't make it a province to province thing.

I think safety for all on the roads is a little bit more important than your ego. Driving is still a right, remember? I have the right to be safe on the roads. Yoiu go to school for years and years, to learn shit you never use anymore, but driving is not important enough to be well taught in. Ok. Nice.

I think it's only an Alberta thing because the study was done in Alberta.
I've loooong been in favor of retesting every 5 years, it would certainly weed out the majority of idiots out there.

I'd doubt that. If that were strictly true, the Conservatives wouldn't take almost every seat in the province come election time.

Yes, there are many transplanted Newfies (Ft. Mac especially) and people from Ontario, but the vast majority of Albertans are from here. I think your experience might be relevant out in the sticks where you are, but the majority of Edmontonians are from Edmonton (Calgary probably has higher number of Ontario residents because of all the head offices), but I would doubt that the vast majority there aren't Albertans either.

And given that 2/3 of Albertans live in either Edmonton or Calgary, I rest my case...
