Back in the day immigration was even easier, just jump on a boat from Southampton harbour, and off to the new world. Yay.
I don't support citizenship stripping, it's a dangerous precedent, and it always leads to a dangerous scenario.
I don't either. (What's with you and your constant anti-Brit rhetoric?)
I do support a more thorough citizen process.
A meaningful exam, proper background checks and any non-citizen convicted of certain offences should be at least denied citizenship and looked at for deportation.
Brock....I am NOT anti Brit. I actually like Britain and their contributions to modern civilization, and most importantly, it's contribution to the 3rd world (as opposed to say the Belgians, French, Dutch and Spanish). Possibly the only global power to not completely fuck everything up in it's path. Granted, they've made horrible mistakes in the process. That being said...
Now...
Immigration from Europe (the British isles specifically) was far easier in the past than it is today. That's all. If people commit crimes, and they are citizens, they should be tried as citizens.
Sarkozy is pandering to the far right. Why should we give him credit? For what? For targeting Gypsies, Gypsies have been a European scapegoat for 2000 years, right along with the Jews. At least the blacks have a homeland.
Every time an economic crises hits, it's always the same story on the mainland (Europe), get the Gypsies, get the blacks, get the Jews. Seriously, it's like we're going in historical fucking circles here.
