Other than totally pwning Hitler, I can't think of one other redeeming quality Stalin had. I could understand it if they felt this way about Lenin, but Stalin? WTF?

Stalin also beat Hitler when it came to killing more people, especially Russians.

He created the Soviet Union who had balls to stand up to the United States and literally made the USA piss their pants for 50 years and beyond, as a balance of power in the world. Whether you think that is a good or bad thing is up to you.

Bob Barker is looking well strange these days.

On Ghenghis vs Stalin. The Khan was a more postive force, asides from the heads on poles. It was the way of the day.

Stalin was just a murderous dickhead.

Soviet war casualties were far worse from 1941 to 1942 thanks almost entirely to Stalin's no retreat policy for the military. Thanks to Russia not siging the Geneva Conventions for correct treatment of POW's, as well as the Nazi's murderous racism towards all Slavs, every single Soviet soldier captured by the Germans was condemned to almost certain death (usually by starvation). Stalin was probably single-handedly responsible for getting as many of his own troops killed as the Germans themselves had killed in battle.

No one on our side of the world has much first-hand comprehension of the scope of the hatred and murder that the totalitarian way of thinking was responsible for in the first fifty years of the 20th century. We're damn lucky that we managed to avoid almost all of it.

Yet people admire them both in the same way...funny eh?
