What do you make of the fact that he was a pyschiatrist, whose specialty was 'traumatic stress', soon to be deployed to Iraq? Received his undergraduate degree from Viginia Tech. ( Scene of another mass shooting two years ago)!

I was just watching CNN and saw they identified the shooter. I'm not making anything out of this. I'll let investigators do that when the facts come out.

Calm down. I've seen people already link this to the gun registry and it's beyond stupid, I don't need you to tell me that.

I make the comment tounge in cheek but still with the point that the argument people make when some suicidal gunman goes running around a school or something that, "if only there were more armed citizens around", and "this sort of thing doesn't happen when you have no gun controls" are just as stupid. The same argument can apply here, regardless of whatever story PuggyRug is trying to sell. It certainly applies as well at an army base in Texas as it ever would for say a public school in Toronto or California.

So no, riden, I'm not trying to spin anything. The methaphor is perfectly apt. I did read the article ironic to your point tha's never stopped people who make those kind of statements in the past.

What he did was a tragedy but I still feel some sympathy for the man. I don't know what his superiors were thinking of, deciding to send him to Iraq.

Obviously there are alot of unanswered questions right now. This will be a very lengthly investigation and it may be some time before we really know what transpired.

My heart goes out to the families of the victims of this horrible tragedy. Hopefully there will not be any more deaths from those who were wounded.

I don't know what to make of it. Early reports I heard said that two 'possible' accomplices had been apprended after the doctor was shot dead. If it was just him, I'd say the doctor just snapped, but if it is proven he had help, I want to hear a bit more before making a judgment.

They have a 4th suspect in custody right now apparently. 1 dead, 2 released, now another one in custody.
