I really wonder how Mr. David would react if I went over to his house and painted swastika's all over it?
Neither act would be right, but i'm pretty sure i'd be the one up on hate crime charges.
Which would likely prove RR's point about the perception of the media giving every religion except Christianity a pass when it comes to things like this.

PublicAnimalNo9 PublicAnimalNo9: I gotta agree with RR but in a slightly different slant. When some racial or religious group in Canada gets all worked up about something going on in THEIR home country and starts demonstrating, why the hell exactly are we televising it? Oooo a bunch of pissed off muslims jumping and yelling and burning flags. Show me something I haven't seen about a billion times on the TV news already. If they're that pissed off about it, maybe they should go back there and DO something about it. This goes for ANY racial or religious group. The media just need to quit feeding the flames. Someone pisses on Jesus and how many on this site suddenly are up in arms and calling for blood because if someone did this to a picture of Mohamud, the Muslims would go ape shit? Wow. That's logical. How many of the irate here even go to church? There must be something else to freak out about in the news today instead of this non story.

Your post proves that your fanaticism is more peaceful than Abdul's - that's all. You get all angry, just not angry enough to burn flags and cut off heads.

And where did you get the idea I was fanatical? I made that statement to make a point not to be identified as some religous zealot. But you we're right about me getting pissed off. Larry David is quite obviously an idiot of the highest order and this latest antic proved it. It would appear that he's just another one of the hollywood twits who spout, peace, harmony and tolerance, but refuse to live up to the standards they'd like to impose on the rest of society. Must be a middle eastern thing?

For a guy who gets shitty when Muslims go ape shit over stupid pictures, you certainly have no issue venting your spleen when Jesus gets peed on.

One is racism and intolerance where the other is branded as comedy or "edgy" social satire? The media licks this shit up but they call folks like Ezra a racist. Go figure.

It wasn't the pissing on the picture that pissed me off, it's the people who through their "political correctness" conciously give Larry David a pass by trying to paint everyone who found this offensive as hypocrits.

Gunnair Gunnair: Gets a pass or doesn't warrent a fanatical reaction? I'll go with the latter. Right, I'm asking for a "fanatical" reaction? No. I'm asking for some courtesy. I'm a Catholic, I respect other faiths, even if I disagree with them on the basic fundamentals. People have the right to believe, or not to believe. Do I want Catholics rioting and burning down TV studios and lynching actors, let alone this unfunny asshole? No. I don't ever want that, and I'm not calling for that. I'm calling for the same respect Judaism gets, as well as politically correct sack of shit that Islam gets. You're seeing fanatics where there are none.

I could point out that the whoile thing in the episode was an accident because in the plot Larry had taken a medication that made him piss like a fire hose resulting in the toilet water being splashed everywhere (an occurence which should be familiar to anyone who, say, has actually had more than one beer during their lifetime). At no point in the episode did Larry deliberately piss on the Jesus painting while smirking maliciously, "Ha, ha! Fucking stupid Catholics!" The safe guess is that Larry wrote and acted this episode just as another example of how he lives his "real" life which, for anyone who knows anything at all about Larry David, is that he's George Costanza from "Seinfeld" except his craziness is magnified by about a thousand. The whole schtick of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is, harmless incident occurs, Larry's out-of-this-world neuroses multiply incident and unintended yet thoroughly hilarious consequences burst through the stratosphere.
Those are the facts of the show. The problem here is, besides the involvement of a bloviating hyper-sensitve Catholic supremacist asshole like Bill O'Donohue, is that uninformed and deliberately ignorant people here on CKA, who get their information solely from places like FOX, use this sort of completely irrelevent and harmless moment from a television comedy show to get all hyperventilate-y again. Which I assume, considering that CKA's been tragically morphing in a one-sided and purposely ignorant FOX News junkies fan club sub-site, is what these sorts of people prefer to spend the majority of their time doing anyway. That is, see something silly, blow a gasket over it, and then pick fights about it over the internet.
Get a goddamn life already. It's just a fucking harmless TV show. And if this is what religious people are like most of the time then you deserve to be insulted anyway for being such a ridiculous group of utterly humourless dicks.

Wow. Every stereotype and dog eared cliché in the book. Congratulations and my sympathies on whatever affliction forces you to watch that shit.

The whole schtick of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is, harmless incident occurs, Larry's out-of-this-world neuroses multiply incident and unintended yet thoroughly hilarious consequences burst through the stratosphere. Okay, so he "accidentally" pisses upon a picture of Jesus... In a scripted television show. Nice. That's brilliant humor isn't it? Very funny. I mean, in the next episode he'll accidentally piss upon a Qu'ran too, right? I mean, that'll be just as accidental, and just as funny too. $1: Those are the facts of the show. No, that was the plot of the episode. The facts are he wrote a script where he pisses on a picture of Jesus, and then mocks Christians with the little scenario afterward. $1: The problem here is, besides the involvement of a bloviating hyper-sensitve Catholic supremacist asshole like Bill O'Donohue, is that uninformed and deliberately ignorant people here on CKA, who get their information solely from places like FOX, A cute bucket of insults here, let's see where you get to a point... $1: use this sort of completely irrelevent and harmless moment rom a television comedy show to get all hyperventilate-y again. Maybe to you, who seems to be going on anti-Christian rants lately. I'm a Catholic. I'm not a Bible thumping Baptists who lives in Alabama who lynches blacks for shits and giggles, like what you seemingly believe Baptists, Republicans, or people living in the American south do. $1: Which I assume, considering that CKA's been tragically morphing in a one-sided and purposely ignornt FOX News junkies fan club sub-site, is what these sorts of people prefer to spend the majority of their tie doing anyway. That is, see something silly, blow a gasket over it, and then pick fights about it over the internet. CKA hasn't changed at all. Hell, Fox bashing is a favorite past time of this site. The problem is, people aren't agreeing with your view on things, and so therefore you're getting really pissed about it, and you think CKA is changing, when, in reality, you are. Plus, why are you pissy over people discussing something of interest on an Internet forum? That's the fucking point of an Internet forum. To discuss things. If you don't like what people are discussing? Ignore it, or comment with some class and respect of other posters. In reality, nobody was "picking fights" but you, with such an inflammatory post to the "uninformed and deliberately ignorant people here on CKA". $1: Get a goddamn life already. It's just a fucking harmless TV show. And if this is what religious people are like most of the time then you deserve to be insulted anyway for being such a ridiculous group of utterly humourles dicks. Most religious people don't care. They do what they do without a peep, most of the time. And then some guy pushes the wrong button, like this Larry David who "accidentally" pissed upon a picture of Jesus, and Christians, specifically Catholics (which are commonly on the Democratic side of the spectrum, even if Bill Donohue is a bit of an asshole) aren't happy about seeing THE most important figure within their faith being pissed on. How horrible must us Christians be, asking for some respect. Edit, strangely enough I can't get rid of the quote box. Hmm.
