People should take their heads out of their asses. Not everybody is "healthy", "normal" or even friendly. But... That doesn't mean we should always have "understanding" for them and give them a free ride. (Not talking about this particular case btw)
I mean, some people use their "disadvantage" or "challenge" to their advantage to TAKE advantage of the system. That is not fair either.

We live in a society together. That doesn't mean the strong and healthy should always take care about the not strong and healthy so they don't have to face reality or work for everything, like the strong and healthy do.

I don't think the buscompany did anything wrong. If you want specialized transport, rent a specialized bus, with specialized personnel.

With comments like that...No we dont live in a society TOGETHER. That just defined some are all for one and one for all. What makes a healthy society is working together as a community...even if that means helping one another and trying to understand one another. We all have weaknesses from what I have seen most is peoples ignorance.

What you are saying is that everybody should be there for everybody, always. That's Utopia.

I dont know, I see this in the same catagory as if you had a mother on the bus with a crying infant. Im sure the bus driver could have sucked it up for a little while longer.

Agreed.... he did what I would have done.

A decently grown child makes a lot more noise screaming then a new born child and their screams, no matter what their mental condition is, is much louder and would be a serious distraction, thus safety concern.

He brought his concerns to the people responsible for the child, told them he could not drive any further until the screaming stopped and they got in a pissy fit and got off.

That's their choice, but they shouldn't freak on the bus driver for their choice.

And while I think the idea of everybody being aware of mental disorders is nobel.... to expect every single person to be completely or decently educated on every single thing that's out there is a fools erand.

If every person had to sit down and talk to the parents in order to "Get to know" their kid and his or her disability (as mentioned in the new news thread about this) then nothing would get done.

I agree with a decent level of accommodation for everybody who has disabilities... but to expect everybody else on the planet to be as educated and informed about your or your loved one's disability and to accomidate you in every single way, or else it's discrimination, is completely foolish.

The onus isn't on everybody else to know what you and your loved one needs every moment of the day, we all can't read minds.

This is the hand of cards given to each of us... we have to deal with the ups and downs as they come.

You don't know that. Maybe he just got to hear his mom was diagnosed with cancer, or his bf had aids. Maybe he caught his wife in bed with his best friend. It's not up to any of us to decide what he should have done. The decision of not getting them a transfer was not his, but his boss'

KorbenDeck KorbenDeck:
It is but so are: Major Depressive Disorder, Dysthymic Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Panic Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Social Phobia, Agoraphobia, Eating Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Alzheimer's Disease. Does that mean we need to learn about those and how to deal with them? You do know that people go to school to learn how to deal with people with these problems. Asking everyday Canadians to know that stuff is a bit steep.
Knowing about it would be better than being ignorant about it, IMO. I don't agree with asking anybody to learn something they don't want to unless it's a part of their education or job, I just said it would be "nice." I don't mean learning all about it and how to deal with it in the way professionals are. Could take someone ten minutes to read up on it. I've come into contact with enough autistic kids to have done that, like the kid who barks at me like a dog on the elevator in the morning. His grandpa told me he's autistic and I understand it's typical behavior that's difficult for him to control, so I don't act ignorant, shake my head, give dirty looks, think they're bad neighbors or anything ignorant like that.
