Akhenaten,

With a poison, there is a dosage vs side effect(illness or death) response that allows scientists to determine what a safe doseage is.

However, with a carcinogenic substance, there is no safe doseage because theoretically any doseage can cause you to have cancer, and any strong doseage may not cause cancer.

Yes, well, as you say, theoretically.

We're still talking about 'damage' over all and it's going to be hard to convince me that someone smoking 20 grams of tobacco/day enjoys the same level of 'damage' as someone smoking 1 gram of MJ every second day. If 'any dosage' can cause you to have cancer than taking a single dosage 20 times a day will increase your chances over someone doing it once/day.

If you use a vaporizer, it's 0% carcinogenic.

Funny ... smokers will go to great lengths to justify their habit... including denying the fact smoking anything causes cancers in humans... the only time I have heard people say " I wished I never smoked is when I am looking after them in the paliative care unit on their death bed.....

Smoke of any kind is carcinogenic, and paper is one of the worst considering the chemicals in it. When you use a vaporizer, there is no smoke. And without smoke, there isn't all that nasty chemistry going on.

When I smoked cigarettes, I smoked at least a large pack a day. I would have to smoke 25 grams of weed a day to equal that intake, smoking the traditional way.
I dunno anyone that smokes almost an ounce of weed everyday.
Does smoking pot increase one's risk of cancer? Probably, but I have serious doubts the risks are near what cigarettes are, just from an average daily quantity consumed alone.
But again, vaporizers will seriously diminish that risk.

Exactly Bodah. Too much food will mess you up. Too much of certain vitamins can be toxic. And these are things our bodies require

Better make them contolled substances since they can be abused too.

Yeah i've read something similar(might have been the same study). Seems weird to me since I just always assumed ANY burning stuff causes problems in your lungs. Just figured it wasnt as bad as cigs. So no lung cancer, but I wonder how the damaged DNA impacts you.

PublicAnimalNo9 PublicAnimalNo9:
Vaporizers are the way to go. You don't inhale ANY smoke, just pure THC. Waterbongs will help as well because it will cool the smoke somewhat but the vaporizer is your best bet.
They can cost a bit but they pay for themselves in no time

I've been smoking pot for 27 years now. Still no health problems associated with it.
And the "findings" about bronchitis are nothing new. There certainly is a link, but smokes ain't any different.
And ridenrain, I do agree that anyone that says pot can cure stuff is an idiot. HOWEVER, pot CAN be used to help alleviate symptoms, and be used as a replacement for some drug therapies. Frankly, every pharmaceutical out there carries far more health risks than pot ever will. Just listen at the end of all those drug commercials on TV. Include that with, long term use WILL cause liver and kidney damage.
27 years of smoking pot and my kidneys and liver are just fine.
When my ex-wife went to see a psychiatrist( she was diagnosed with bi-polar) she admitted that she smoked weed. When her psych asked her if it helped, and found out it did, her response blew me away. "Well if it's helping then keep smoking it. It's safer for you than anything I could prescribe."
And THAT is why pot will never be legalized in the US. Big pharma would lose big profits. If the US gov. was so concerned about people's health, they would just ban tobacco and quit trying to sell drugs on TV with alllll kinds of side effects, some may even cause death. And they don't even tell what half the fucking drugs are for!!!!
I find it funny that when BC bud hit the world stage, the W.H.O. sent their top drug addiction and research specialist to study this new superweed. His finding was the only health risk associated with stronger weed was, the actual smoking of it. He then went on to say those risks could be greatly reduced by use of a water pipe or vaporizer.
He was removed from his position. Big surprise considering the US is the primary funder OF the W.H.O.

And I've been smoking cigs everyday for the last 42 years, still no health problems because of it! I also smoked more than my share of weed and hash along the way, always followed by copious amounts of a wide variety of alcohol.
After extensive testing last year, in the words of my Dr., " I really don't want to show you all the test results. They indicate that you have never smoked a cig in your life. These are the results that athletes in training strive for, but rarely acheive!"
What does this all mean? fuck-all really. Just that so far smoking hasn't had any negative effect on my body. Will it? Maybe. Do I really give a shit? Proly not. Will I ever quit smoking? Likely. About 20 mins after 'they' shut the oven off!
My Buddy never smoked and he died from lung cancer. What does this prove? Only that everyone has to find someone or something to blame for everything that they don't want to take credit for!!!

Yup...and alcohol shrinks your brain inevitably. Funny how nobodies clamouring for prohibition again. This study doesn't change the issue of Liberty. all it does is give numb nuts ammunition for talking points.

means you've been lucky/are abnormally resistant to negative effects. But the science is pretty clear that smoking increases your CHANCES of certain things. Not hating...just making the point.
