Or... wait... I got it!! Let's just kill all the Mohawk natives... with GUNS!!

Really though, can we just NOT arm the border guards here? Why is this an issue?

What's the problem with arming them ? I just recently discovered that's natives crossing the border have their own lanes just for natives in Cornwall stationed by natives.

So what's this thing about being harrassed at the border ? If you give them attitude of course your going to be harrassed.

Cornwall has suffered enough economic hardship and moving this border is ridiculous!
its important to people in that area and a major source of economic revenue.

$1:
Hundreds of Akwesasne Mohawks had surrounded the post to protest a new federal policy that would allow some border guards across the country to begin carrying 9-mm handguns at the beginning of June.

Is that accurate? ... that the policy "would allow some" border guards across the country to be armed? So it's optional? Didn't we go years and years without armed border guards without problem? Why is it such a big deal not to arm the guards at this one post?

Should we make an exception because these protesters deserve it?
Where do we then draw the line with protests?

I wouldn't like to see the border moved because of the negative effect on Cornwall and the people who live there. They have suffered enough economically with jobs losses.
But I do think that given the times we live in and post 9/11 border guards should be armed.

Because there have been multiple incidents of armed attempted crossings of the border that have forced the unamred Border officers to essentially hide from the danger. The union ultimately said enough was enough. Arm them or continue to allow criminal elements to breeze through whenever the flash a gun...

No there were problems. Hence the need to arm the border guards.

Seems like a reasonable reason why they should be armed to me.

I think the samething happend with Game Wardens if Im not mistaken, having to deal with armed poachers and not being armed seemed kind of silly.
