Gunnair Gunnair:
The interviews with Dexter seem to suggest he's a level headed fiscal conservative. Should be interesting.

a fiscal conservative ? i doubt . but some politicians on the left like to claim to be one . i still remember back in 2003 when dalton mcguinty ( now ontario premier ) ran tv ads saying he wasn't going to raise taxes or cut them either , just so he'd win the election , only thing was after the election he introuduced the biggest tax hike in ontario's history in the health premiums in his first budget so its turns out he was kind of lying .

It's Ontario all over again. Hold onto your wallets with a NDP government. In a few years, it'll be funny to look back at the damage.

You think lowering taxes isn't being fiscally conservative?

Not at this moment in NS.
That doesn't make sense. Gunnair said he seemed like he was fiscally conservative and you said you disagreed, bringing up the point of his reducing taxes - you might not agree with it, but lowering taxes is still fiscally conservative.

I don't want to see someone die because an ER is closed, not while violent crime is rising to unprecedented levels in NS. Not while detox centers are overloaded with long waiting lists. I prefer to think of it as fiscally stupid. Makes everyone jump for joy at more money in their pocket, makes the NDP look like good, just so long as you don't think too far outside the box. With all the issues in health care, law enforcement, education they are giving money back and fixing some rural roads as a first priority....great
I think it's hilarious that someone is complaining about the NDP not taking more of peoples' money to spend on social issues. Seems like you should step back and actually look at what, and whom, you're complaining about.

I didn't say anything about taking more. What I said was reducing tax's and then their first priority is rural fucking roads! Would you consider me fiscally responsible if I had $2000, a bill coming due for $2000, then to be nice I gave a $1000 to a friend, spent another $500 on shoes? I also don't consider health care, law enforcement social issues, I consider them necessary services. The welfare bandits, EI abusers they are social issues IMHO.

I'm not so sure I'll find it humorous, but hey they have to pay for welfare and rural roads somehow. I'm sure the tax break on home heating will find it's way back out of my wallet ten fold, so some stupid bitch can sit on her ass with her four kids from four different fathers.

Fiscal conservatism doesn't mean the same thing as fiscal responsibility, for starters.

Other than that, you're overlooking the fact that the NDP are committing almost nothing to roadwork spending - about a 10th of what the PC budget proposed. Considering that, if less spending on roadwork is such a priority for you, then an NDP win was the best thing that could have happened.

Aside from the fact that healthcare is clearly a social program, why do you think 'social' and 'necessary' are opposites? Since people abuse the healthcare system, too, does that somehow make it more social and less necessary?
