Actually that part is true. The coffee shop thing. In small towns there is always a cafe or restaurant where all the town gossips and farmers gather during the day to gossip over coffee.

Damn conservatives, got no sense of humour. It was a great show. Good humour. In my opinion it was one of the greatest sitcoms on tv, and I don't just mean Canadian tv.

westmanguy westmanguy:
I meant I don't choose to watch it.

I've watched an episode here and there when I'm at someone else's home. I just don't like the show.

And now...Dog River, in no way is representative of life in small prairie towns. First of all, it would be very rare to have a native constable for the local RCMP. Its terrible I know, but anti-native sentiment is still rampant in the rural areas. Life here is mostly dominated by the church functions, farmer related functions, socials (manitoba word - means dance + drinking), and bored teenagers sick of being stuck in these small towns so they walk around aimlessly committing crimes, doing drugs, and partying every weekend.

If you don't like it you don't like it but why would you care if it is 'finally cancelled'?

Don't know what small town you live in but your bitter experience is hardly every small town experience. Are you one of those bored teenagers running around?

Well the one positive thing was it was a for profit show that proves with the right script Canadian tv/culture doesn't need to be subsidized (i.e. the CBC).

I loved Corner Gas. Simple comedy, no fluff, with a great cast. Always enjoyed the references to Canadian places, people and small-town culture. I liked the way it ended...without really ending, just carrying on...

A few years ago we saw "Corner Gas Live" at a local theatre. Brent Butt, of course, Gabrielle Miller and Nancy Robertson all did stand-up routines individually and together. It was hilarious.
