Give the NDP their way and he wouldn't have even got the gold watch.

If it was up to me the only thing he would have left with was shoe up his behind (refering to Dingwall).

dino_bobba_renno dino_bobba_renno:

What on earth are you guys talking about? How did this suddenly become a left vs right issue?

Why shouldn't it be? Because you say so? You've deemed that this isssue is too holy and therefore not to be desecrated by mere partisanship? Who made you the Grand Poobah?

It must be becasue you have always be so above partisan hackery right, with well considered comments like:

Mr. Non Partisan himself Mr. Non Partisan himself:
The Liberal Party does, just ask them about the merits of the CBC, I'm sure they'll fill you in on how important it

Oh, here's a good one. Here you make EXACTLY the same comment that you are taking me to task for:

Mr. Hypocrite Himself Mr. Hypocrite Himself:
Both the Dippers and the Grits used the same process and as soon as the Tories use it, it's now a scandal.

I could go on, but point made. Get off your high horse, Bozo.

Oh ya, got me there, found a wise crack I made a few weeks ago, bravo. What is your problem? Christ you wound up tighter than a two dollar watch. I'm referring to this thread and the comments made on it. If you like I can go back and dredge up every partisan comment you've made too. My point was that my comment posted here was not in reference to partisanship. I don't care who Dingwall worked for or who fired him but that the package Hiller received in comparison to him was far more outrageous and more controversial than what was received by a retiring general. You're the one who went on about " Yeah, if it's the Conservatives blowing taxpayers money on huge parties it's OK”. Did I say that, no. Did I defend Mulroney, no.

Christ relax and grow up, bozo.

Not just any wise crack--the exact same one you took me to task for. The irony is delicious! I think this is what they refer to, in the internet dialect as:

OK, get busy on that. You only have some 6500 posts to get through, so see you next year.

And mine was. What makes you think you have the sole right to determine which threads will be partisan, and which will not? It's all grist for the mill. This would not have even been a story in both naitonal newspapers if this were not so. Deal wiht it, Mr. Sensitive.

More likely a war crimes trial.

If the military starts bitching about this, I'd pay attention but it sounds like the man was a hero to most of them. To make this political assumes that the Conservatives would be bitching if the Libs spent that money on a soldiers retirement? I'd say anytime a Liberal spent a dime on the forces is a cause for a cheer.

While I'm a believer in bias creeping in to anyone's argument I'm pretty confident I would never have bothered to complain about Liberals spending a quarter million on a military show for a retiring general. Or even a quarter million in general. $250000 is chicken feed. I'm more concerened about the bags o'billion or million that just seem to disappear here and there and no one can account for them. Or the billions that get sunk into programs that never really address the problem they were created to help solve.

I'm not currently angry at the Liberal party because they're supposedly liberals but rather because they've grown fat, over-confident and under competent. I mena if the Liberals made Harper look like an honestly good and solid alternative then there's something wrong right there.

My comment was a joke, not a great one admittedly but a joke none the less.

Your statement is basically saying ……. Well I don’t know what hell you’re trying to get at.

How is Hillers retirement party a reflection on either party? Did the conservatives approve the spend for the event? Had the Liberals been in power would they have? So again what does this have to with left vs right? You still haven’t answerd that. You’ve deflected with a lot name calling and “one up man ship” but you really haven’t addressed my question.

My guess is that a bunch of brass in the military got together and thought this would be a good idea for a guy who they loved and respected. A tad bit excessive in my opinion but a hell of a lot better use than a severance package for a disgraced bureaucrat and I think most people would agree with me.

Which is it, Bubba? Your comment was a "joke" or "you have no time for games"? Because those two comments (in the very same post, I might add) are mutually exclusive.
Please try to be consistent at elast for one post.

YOU brought up David Dingwall, recall. Oh, but I'm sure that you are going to say that you ddidn't intend for that to be partisan at all right? Except that, as demonstrated, you have a history of such comments. You dropped the gloves with that post, I dropped 'em too, and now you're wandering around the ring, punchdrunk and wondering where it all went wrong.

Well the first comment was two or so weeks ago, the second was from today. If I say I don't have time today does that automaticly mean that I didn't have time to make a crack two weeks ago? That's prety week stuff there bud. You're just talking out your ass now.

Ya I brought up Dingwall as another more recent example of someone who recieved a payment upon their release from their government position which by most peoples was not deserved. I can't comment overly on Mulroney as I was all of 12 years old when he was elected and only around in my early 20's when he stepped down. Sorry to say but I was far more interested in chasing tail at the time and I don't really recall the up roar over any compensation he may have received. Dingwall on the other hand was recent and I can relate better too and comment on. You're one who took that as a swipe at your party of choice and went on about right vs left. If you like you can disagree and defend Dingwall and his "entitlements" and tell me how it is a completely different issue and that it doesn’t apply to the context of the posts in thread. Or if makes you feel better you can bring up a Conservative appointee if that helps balance it out for ya. What ever turns you on.

You're the one who over reacted there big guy. You're the one who went on about how if it had been the Liberal party in power and so on. You misinterpreted what I was getting at and ran with it (and still are). And people wonder why there that be red warning on the front of the forum pages.

My point is that there have case where far larger amounts have been spent on people who are a hell of a lot less deserving than Hiller. Trust me I would say the same if Iggy was running things at the moment. If you care to disagree please spell it out to me. I know you won't and I also know that you'll just carry on with your little shadow boxing event in front of your computer because your not one to back off an arguement and admit you might be wrong, are you?
