nice, Im just going to have to swallow that $300+ pill for the new OS. :(

Find a small, local vendor of misc parts. They may sell you an OEM copy on its own, or they may let you take one if you buy a new optical drive or something else relatively trivial you may need anyway. Could save a few bucks.

Good point. A Computers here in Edmonton sells XP for $110 a copy.

SigPig SigPig:
Im gonna wait to see how it is then decide between that and a macbook. Currently the Mac is in the lead for me.

Why wait? There's nothing to decide.
Something that works vs waiting for something that might work on a claptrap assembly of cheap parts?

I set up bootcamp on my Macbook, and the only reason I installed XP Pro was because I have a handful of OEM licenses, and I don't have a spare one for VHP64. In a month, the only reason I've booted into XP is to show other people you can.

Beta 1 is official released and you can get direct download links here
http://www.neowin.net/news/main/09/01/0 ... r-to-patch
I'm going to try it out on my Laptop, I don't want to touch mydesktop, even to dual boot. Since everything is running great right now.

Vista was supposed to be the best version of Windows ever and it blows, I am getting very cynical about what comes out of Microsoft these days.

bootlegga bootlegga:
"Best version ever" is usually about 10 patchs, upgrades, and versions after the original release...

So true...

Microsoft is really pissing me off, first they launch Vista which was a mega piece of crap. Than they close down making of XP which was Microsofts only success on the subject and soon after they launch Vista. They start making one that can be better than both and of course people will have to shell out a lot of cash to get it.

Most people got Vista, than had to buy XP to switch. Than will have to buy this. How much money loss is that? Let's just say FUCK MICROSOFT! HELLO APPLE!

Vista works just fine given the proper hardware. Blame HP, Compaq, Lenovo, Acer for shoving out systems with 512MB and 64MB video that didn't meet the required specs. 3-4 GB RAM, 256MB video, Dualcore or X2 and it beats XP's security nightmare.
The big Q is if they're gonna pull another 8 version BS move. Two versions, all 64 bit and they may have something.
I had to spend all Friday fixing other people's XP boxes, didn't get to download it. Did anyone else check it out? Opinions?

I more then met the video requirements but for some reason I cant get SP1 to install, hence the reason I hate Vista.

Canadaka Canadaka:
I really think Windows 7 will be the best. The benchmarks coming out from Beta1 already Beat XP and Vista on almost all tests.

Windows 95 is better than Vista
