In Alberta it cant be in the driving compartment which is pretty well inside the vehicle anywhere.

All liquor or just open liquor? I think in BC it's fine to have in the vehicle as long as it hasn't been opened.

All,I was told before xmas to take my just purchased box of beer out of the back of my crewcab and put it in the back by an RCMP. It was news to me.

Discipline is always appropriate when dealing with a child. Humiliation however is not.

but she didn't humiliate him... she didn't print his name or a photo or anything.. she just stated the reason WHY she was selling the car

You don't think that in the town they live this isn't full public knowledge? This isn't good parenting. Selling his car was a good decisions, making a public spectacle out of it was over the line.

I dont tihink it was.. i mean his friends were gonna find out anyways when he suddenly started taking the bus again.. and in a town of 25000 believe it or not not everyone knows everyone elses business..

again.. she didn't print a name. i live in a town of about 12000 people and if i saw an ad like that in our local paper chances are I wouldn't know who it was.

i still think she made the right call

I just wonder why she made the point of including the whole story about her son in the ad for the car. It had no bearing on his punishment and she would have sold the car without that information. It seems to me she wanted a little more out of this than just to punish her son.

Not according to the RCMP who waved me to stop from a block away and told me to put it outside.I thought it was if it was in reach also.So trunk our back of the truck is all thats allowed here.

I agree with you Ruez... It could have been kept in the house why she sold the car, and maybe tell the buyer why, when he asks for it.

The idea of selling it is punishment enough (if you would go that far...), no need to make it this public.

Folks, this is in Iowa. I am not aware of any state in the US where it would be legal for him to have it in the car for another two years.

I feel absolutely ZERO sympathy for this kid. Zero, none, nada. Mom laid down down two dirt simple rules.

Ya pays your money, ya takes your chances. He was obviously too stupid to obey a simple rule. Given that fact, I am just as happy as he in not on the road. There are enough stupid people behind the wheel.

Well she doesn’t have to worry about if her son drinks and drives anymore, the problem now is she has to worry about her son catching a ride home with each and everyone of his friends that could be drunk and driving.
