The vaccine only deals with 1 or 2 strains of the flu. There are like 100 types of flu. ( I could be wrong on that number though) The flu shoots are for the types they think will be most prevalent for that year.

With that said YES people should get those flu shoots. Certainly people my are and up should get them along with you children. I will start getting one next winter going forward.

The flu shot may not cover the dominant strains 100%, but it will boost your immune system more than not taking the vaccine. That could be the difference between the sniffles and full on respiratory failure.

Chinese tourist says she evaded coronavirus checks to fly to France

The Chinese embassy in France has urged its citizens to comply with airport coronavirus checks after a woman from Wuhan said she had evaded screenings in order to fly to France and dine in restaurants there.

The woman told on social media how she took fever medicine to mask flu-like symptoms to bypass temperature checks. Wuhan has temporarily shut down public transport to contain the deadly virus.

She wrote: “I had a fever and a cough before I left – I was so scared. I quickly took some medicine and checked my temperature. Luckily the temperature was controlled and I had a smooth journey through the border.”

China putting it's man power to good use. Just hope they don't cross some wires and the place turns into some sort of fire death trap.

I think it's a positive sign that China is doing it's best to be proactive. Shutting down travel in cities that have shown signs of the illness. Along with things like building additional hospital room section of a hospital.

My last flu shot was in 2008. It's also the last year I got the flu.

I haven't got the flu shot since I was a teenager (well over 21 years ago). I always had chronic Bronchitis, and went from cold to flu to Bronchitis in three days. As of the beginning of 2019, I have had two colds that didn't go any further.

After decades of Bronchitis, I now just get the odd cold. I know people (some family, some not) that get the flu shot every year, and have the flu every year.

I'm with Bart on this one.
