So long as newspapers, TV news, Radio, blogs and other sundry media outlets both mainstream and unconventional continue to use the model of "if I own it I can publish or report how and what I want and the truth be damned" we're never going to go back to the old days when the news was just the story being read by someone who's boss or themselves had no vested interested in the stories outcome.

Unfortunately yellow journalism has destroyed peoples trust of the news so now, instead of Walter Cronkite we get Rachael Maddow or Laura Ingraham both espousing their own political and moral views with no real concern about the truth of the story and people only believe what they want to believe not what true.

Truth in the news is now a foreign concept that will never return.

Maybe I should have phrased it, we once got the news without political affiliation, personal morals or directives from on high and the people who issued it daily believed it to be the truth just like we did.

But thinking back we've been receiving a steady dose of misinformation, lies, inuendo's and mistruths since Johannes Gutenberg built the printing press back in 1440. I wonder if he was the first man to figure out you could control the masses through misinformation and ran with it? And the biggest misinformation campaign in history was likely the Bible.
