DrCaleb DrCaleb:
BartSimpson BartSimpson:
DrCaleb DrCaleb:
Trump made himself a little more untrustworthy for turning a negotiation tactic into a personal insult toward both Trudeau and Freeland.

And how rude of President Trump to insult people who endorsed the comparison of himself to dictators and tyrants!

https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnis ... ant-antics

$1:
How insulting President Trump directly, comparing him to people who kill their opponents, is standing up for Canadian values isn’t clear to me.

When was that? From your article:

$1:
Freeland didn’t make the direct comparison between Trump and dictators herself but was introduced to raucous applause seconds after the video ended.

You're not fooling anyone and neither did Freeland and JT. Least of all you're not fooling your fellow Canadian who wrote that piece.

All this is going to do is show the world we can survive without you. It'll suck at first, but we will carry on. The US will become the new North Korea, a hermit nation ruled by a dicktator with a massive ego.

I hope I'm wrong and I really do. But this is what I see.

Opinion pieces that say both "she insulted him" right after saying "she didn't insult him" are why "The Sun" chain went tits up years ago, and why most Canadians ignore them.

Looks like that's how it's going to be. The US election in November will set the stage for what happens next on trade.

Given that more and more Democrats are predicting the Democrats stand to lose four or five seats in the Senate I'm thinking that trade issues between the US and Canada will be chilly for quite some time to come.

It's quite unfortunate, but I agree with you both.

And it didn't have to happen.

I always like that you completely ignore he started the insults by saying we are a national security threat.

It's a shame that JT could not get past his animus against Trump to negotiate in the same manner as Mexico managed to pull off.

Mexico really hates Trump for closing the border to their illegals. Yet their government put this aside to work out a decent trade deal because it was in the best interests of Mexico to maintain access to US markets.

JT decided that the best interests of Canada are represented by proving to the world that JT can stand up against DJT.

mmm that's a stretch.

I think the first direct personal insult was the whole "dishonest and week" rant...

He's standing up to DJT because his demands are unreasonable. You can't subsidize your dairy industry and then demand us reduce tariffs on dairy, He's asking for us to do something he'd never do .

He still needs to withdraw from NAFTA to implement USMEXFTA.

America isn't negotiating, it's demanding.

Pardon us for saying "no thanks, here's what we WOULD agree to". (how dare we)

The US demands are unreasonable at best. I think our leaders are patiently waiting. And I think that's the best strategy.

It's insulting. But I don't think it was an intentional insult.

It was just an intentional "money-grab-dick-move".

"weak" and "dishonest" are absolutely intended insults...

That's where he started with NAFTA. Demanding things he would never accept for the US, then
bullying us as if that would work when we don't back down.
