N_Fiddledog N_Fiddledog:
Just on this one thing...

Just on this "Link tax."

If it were to catch on and come to Canada imagine using CKA without links - because who here would be willing to pay for them?

How boring would things be without them. And it's not like you could just copy and paste a clip without the link because the no fair use clause and bots enforcing it would have the site owner shut down, I imagine.

Could there be a CKA under such a regime? I doubt it.

Even better... the EU will prosecute any website that doesn't conform.

Now, first they go for facebook and youtube etal....

But the site may be risking permitting 'fair use' that the EU says nope,
and off to court we go.

Surely a few smaller sites will be hauled out and made an example of.

Here's the "Get Woke. Go Broke" guy worrying about the repercussions of the Link Tax and Fair Use controls.

Its great to see how freedom of expression can be quashed so easily.

Yup. That is the end game. The big fish set The Law up to eat the smaller fish and after the total decimation, who is left??
FakeBook and Go0gle winning!

There is nothing new under the sun. The same play is made with tariffs, minimum wage and central banking. Mom and Pop are crushed to make room for the war-mongering-climate-change pushers.

There is no sense analyzing the nitty-gritty details of these laws. They are deliberately crafted to make no sense and to waste time and to deflect attention away from the end game.

The EU thinks it is capable of also breaking Internet protocols by 'licensing' URLs. I think they will find that the Internet has always viewed censorship as an error, and routes around it.

China is like many other dictatorships, because the internet is physically routed through single access points, and therefore easy to censor. Europe has few of these single entry points. And it's usually the countries that had a past dictator in control, like Albania or Romainia.

Routing around the Chinese firewall is also trivial, which is why they crack down on VPN software so hard. Europe won't be any harder.

Aim a camera at a cop in the USA and you'll see how fast those fuckers will come after you even though it's a protected First Amendment activity.

Same here. They don't understand "reduced right to privacy". When I was filmed, I was just like "make sure you get my pretty side!"
