I have seen more Tesla vehicles on the highways. People that buy them seem to love them. Only thing is, Tesla cars aren't exactly cheap, even factoring in the provincial government's credit allowance for green vehicles. Also, the lack of charging stations at this point and they're limited range keeps a lot of people away more than the price. At 426km per charge, it falls way short of my ca alone. I get 705km on one tank of fuel, which is pretty damn good.

Just saying.

A lot of people point to that when contrasting an EV to a gasoline engine.

But how often do you go through a tank of gas per day? Just sayin'. ;)

Only a matter of time before Tesla falls back to reality. The cars are pretty good but the current value is a bubble that's sure to burst.

My Saturn Vue can make it all the way from before Prince George to Abbotsford on one tank. The Wrangler needs to refill in Cache Creek or the canyon and gets there pretty much empty.
On the other hand, the Jeep's more comfy, has better sight lines, the roof cmes off on a sunny day and there's no damn room in the 2 door for her to fill it up for $2000 at Ikea when we go there. She drives the Vue to work, fills it maybe once a month and if we're seeing the kids or doing a big shop, I use it.
If they made something like the Vue with a 400km range, I'd be in line to buy one.

My biggest question about EVs is what are they like to drive in snow? 100% torque at 0 RPM - instant slipping?

Like most cars, if you are light on the gas it's not a problem. Plus, most have traction control too.

It depends on the electric. Those with transmissions work the same way your typical ICE does, gearing to change the outputted power profile coupled with traction controls. Those without transmissions typically modify the power flow to change the outputted power profile, based on feedback from traction controls.

Granted, there are also options in between, based on the type of motor used, etc.

All of which is moot, since every car is way more fun when the TCS is off any way. :D
