Earlier this week, Ars reported that an investigation by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s Marketplace revealed that Subway chicken may only contain 50 percent chicken, with the rest being mostly soy. But, in the fallout from the news, food scientists are scratching their heads at the CBC’s testing methods and interpretation.
That statement says it all. I don't know who had the agenda here, the reporter or the CBC but the fact remains that despite assertions otherwise the CBC is acting more like the National Inquirer than a supposedly respected news agency which, brings into question the objectivity of the rest of their "investigative" reporting stories.
So, given that some people will from now on always associate Subway with soy chicken it's a pretty safe bet that when the name CBC comes up rational people will question the authenticity and accuracy of their stories.
That's a bit much, don't you think? One story in . . .how long? And suddenly the entire CBC is untrustworthy?
The Inquirer has it's reputation because of the types of news it chooses to report - or create - as the case may be. That's a long stretch from the CBC. Let's not forget the same TV Program - Marketplace - is also responsible for the new scrutiny we are placing on the big 5 banks.
A screw up once in a while does not tarnish all the other stuff they do.
