Zipperfish Zipperfish:
This is Trump's first big mistake. I'm not sure if he wanted to just demonstrate that he could rule by fiat, but this Executive Order was a completely unnecessary fight. By making the order actionable immediately he caused chaos at airports globally; something that could have been avoided by phasing this in over a short time. He's essentially galvanizing the opposition.

The supreme are of war is to subdue without fighting.

Had there been notice of the policy there simply would have been a rush for people to get in.

As far as the opposition goes they're going to hate everything Trump does no matter what: If the man walked on water the critics would say he can't swim.

So myself, what I'm calling this 90 day visa ban to access the 7 or so countries on Obama's list first is a nice beginning.

Thanks Obama.

If the man walked on water

Unfortunately too many of the idiots who support him would believe he could, if he made that claim.....well because nobody understands water the way he does.

Meanwhile, ISIS is saying thanks Trump. This is the best recruiting tool they could have ever asked for.

Of the 3,252,493 refugees admitted into the country from 1975 to 2016, 20 of them took part in terrorism. That's 0.00062%.

Thank you CNN, now let's look at the carnage created in Europe and around the world as well as its local effect on things like security, politics and economics if not western society in general.

In any case my point there was it's not just Saudis who can be a worry. Although admittedly they also are a worry.

But yeah Obama's list was a decent place to start. You had to start somewhere.

Saudi king agrees in call with Trump to support Syria, Yemen safe zones: White House
$1:
Saudi Arabia's King Salman, in a telephone call on Sunday with U.S. President Donald Trump, agreed to support safe zones in Syria and Yemen, a White House statement said.

Trump, during his presidential campaign last year, had called for Gulf states to pay for establishing safe zones to protect Syrian refugees.

A statement after the phone call said the two leaders agreed on the importance of strengthening joint efforts to fight the spread of Islamic State militants.

"The president requested, and the King agreed, to support safe zones in Syria and Yemen, as well as supporting other ideas to help the many refugees who are displaced by the ongoing conflicts," the statement said.

The Saudi Press Agency, in an initial readout of the call, made no specific mention of safe zones, but said the two leaders had affirmed the "depth and durability of the strategic relationship" between the two countries.

Donald Trump’s travel ban makes sense
$1:
THE BOTTOM LINE
As a Muslim and naturalized American, I believe this is a bold geopolitical decision. In the age of Islamism, these bans are pragmatic and presidential.

Critics of President Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration have called it a “Muslim ban,” quoting his campaign rhetoric. But as a Muslim and naturalized American, I believe this is a bold geopolitical decision. In the age of Islamism, these bans are pragmatic and presidential.

“Islamophobia”: Kuwait imposes visa ban on five Muslim-majority nations, including Pakistan
$1:
“The Kuwaiti Government has asked would-be migrants from the five banned nations not to apply for visas, as Kuwait City is worried about the possible migration of radical Islamic terrorists.”

But the U.S. is not allowed to have a similar concern. That would be racist! Islamophobic! Hateful!

This action by the Kuwaiti government neatly reveals the absurdity of such objections.
