Back in the mid-1970s a couple dressed up in turban and sari, even had a rubber nose. I had to intervene because they came into the biker bar I drank at and the guys wanted to beat the shit out of them. When I explained they were costumes and makeup, the bikers stopped, laughed and bought them a round.
If they did it today and a buch of East Indians got upset, I don't think I'd intervene. It's like 40 years later. If you think racial costumes are cool, you're an asshole. Grow up.

Well, Hindu or Muslim East Indians wouldn't be bothered at all, as far as I can tell. Sikh South Asians (the pc term for East Indians) mostly don't seem bothered by that sort of thing either, unless maybe they feel they are being mocked. (Not sure what the rubber nose was about, are Sikhs known for their noses?) There are certainly Sikh men who wear the turban who are not of Punjabi origin - it's not like it's some sacred symbol. Saris, for sure, nobody would get in a huff about. I don't really see Sikhs as being part of the professional victim crowd, quick to claim offense.

Or you could do a red-bearded white sheik dude. Not too many know that's what Mohammed was purported to look like. You wouldn't have to admit it until you were with the right crowd.

The problem with going as Trigglypuff is it's hard to get the arms right. Those monster arms just weren't meant for this reality.

I thinking of changing my idea. Maybe Vampire Bernie Sanders or Zombie Karl Marx.
