Man Shot in Milwaukee had a gun in his hand $1: MILWAUKEE (AP) — The black man whose killing by police touched off rioting in Milwaukee was shot by a black officer after turning toward him with a gun in his hand, the police chief said Sunday, as Wisconsin's governor put the National Guard on standby against any further violence on the city's mostly black north side.
Police Chief Edward Flynn cautioned that the shooting was still under investigation and authorities were awaiting autopsy results, but that based on the silent video from the unidentified officer's body camera, he "certainly appeared to be within lawful bounds."
At the same news conference, Mayor Tom Barrett said a still image pulled from the footage clearly showed the gun in 23-year-old Sylville K. Smith's hand as he fled a traffic stop Saturday.
"I want our community to know that," Barrett said. But he also called for understanding for Smith's family.
"A young man lost his life yesterday afternoon," the mayor said. "And no matter what the circumstances are, his family has to be hurting."
Flynn refused to identify the officer who shot Smith but said he is black. The police chief said he wasn't sure what prompted the stop but described Smith's car as "behaving suspiciously."
After watching the officer's body camera footage, Flynn said the entire episode took about 25 seconds, from the start of the traffic stop until shots were fired. He said Smith ran "a few dozen feet" and turned toward the officer while holding a gun.
"It was in his hand. He was raising up with it," the chief said. He said it was unclear how many rounds the officer fired.
Earlier Sunday, Gov. Scott Walker activated Wisconsin's National Guard, and 125 Guard members were reporting to local armories to prepare for further instructions. Flynn said they would not be deployed unless the chief decided to do so.
"I'm hopeful that will not be necessary," the mayor said. "But if it is necessary, we will do so." Flynn said 150 department officers specially trained in managing big protests had also been mobilized.
Six businesses were burned in the unrest that spilled past midnight Sunday. Seventeen people were arrested, Flynn said, and four officers were hurt, none seriously.
Milwaukee Alderman Khalif Rainey, who represents the neighborhood that erupted, said the city's black residents are "tired of living under this oppression."
"Now this is a warning cry. Where do we go from here? Where do we go as a community from here?" he asked.
Flynn said Smith had a lengthy criminal record with Milwaukee police. Online court records showed a range of charges against Smith, many of them misdemeanors.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that Smith was also charged in a shooting and was later charged with pressuring the victim to withdraw testimony that identified Smith as the gunman. The charges were dropped, but it was not immediately clear why...

$1: Milwaukee Alderman Khalif Rainey, who represents the neighborhood that erupted, said the city's black residents are "tired of living under this oppression." Permanently pull the police out of all these areas and leave the inhabitants to their own devices. It's the only solution. $1: "....Where do we go from here? Where do we go as a community from here?" he asked.
Straight to hell which most of you fucking worthless welfare-sucking idiots deserve anyway.

Section off the areas where people feel 'oppressed' pull out the police ( and all the other trappings of a modern and just society) put signs up that state either you are entering a non-police zone or that you are exiting a non-police zone. Treat it like the red light district in Amsterdam, only people can do whatever the hell they want without fear of repercussions. Let's see if they feel 'oppressed'after a year of lawlessness.

what a good idea, because of course all the people in a certain zone think and act the same way. they're mostly the same color, so they must be identical. It's not as if they're white, where they would be individuals with distinct personalities. Nobody there works or is just trying to live a normal life. Even the kids. All the same, you can tell because they all look the same.

Interesting, I think there is freedom of movement in the states. My point is there seems to be this culture of victimhood and anti-authority that is being propagated by various SJW groups, for instance BLM wants the complete abolishment of the police, so my point is to create an area for these people to go to and they can reap what they sow. Now I'm sorry that this guy died (with a gun in his hands) but enough is enough, how is this opression, the police shot an armed man who posed a threat to the public. 38 cops have died in the line of duty this year, can you name one? Bet you can't.

Between the gas station, the auto parts store, and the beauty supply store that were all burnt down there's probably at least twenty-five to thirty people out of work now. Some probably permanently because it sounds like the owners of the auto store have had enough and aren't going to rebuild. That's real people, some from that community too, who just had the rug pulled out from underneath them. And not because of the cops but because of the actions and overall attitudes of the shitheads that live there. How about these liberals feel sorry for some people who actually deserve it for a change instead of going by rote out of the obsolete playbook of their worn-out and worthless "whitey is to blame for everything" politics from the 1960's.
American high school is incredibly easy to complete, probably about as difficult as grade nine or ten is in Canada. If these losers can't even commit themselves to doing something that small then there's no hope for them, period. No amount of government money or blaming the police for everything will help them, not when from the beginning they've committed to being failures, and being feral, for the rest of their pointless lives.

Of course, you're right. They're all the same. I mean they all look the same, right. So treat them that way.

llama66 llama66: Sidestep the argument with bullshit. Good, good. The argument that a whole neighborhood must be equally involved in rioting, there's no regular people or children there at all? Yep, that's a good one all right.

Thanos Thanos: Between Thursday night and Saturday night this past week five blacks in Milwaukee were shot and killed by other blacks. Irrelevant I'm not weighing in on this particular event but the whole concept of using black-on-black crime as a counter argument to accusations of police brutality is absurd. One has nothing to do with the other

The hundreds of blacks killed by other blacks is not important because you can't protest and rant about "fucking pigs" killing a future Nobel prize winner.

As Mark Dice quoted Chris Rock in the video from Thanos above your bleat, " There's black people and there's 'niggas' and the niggas has got to go." But feel free to call Chris Rock a racist if you like.
