Ditto. Sad that he passed, but a "legend"? Mmmm, no. Good guitar player? Talented showman? Sure, but a couple of minor pop hits 30 years ago does not a legend make.
If writing hit songs for other artists, releasing a couple dozen albums and selling 100+ MILLION records, winning 7 Grammys and an Oscar, and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility doesn't make him a legend, then there haven't been any music legends ever.
While I only like a handful of his songs, given his prolific singing and songwriting history, I'd rank Prince up there with the likes of Lennon, Bowie and all the rest.
