DrCaleb DrCaleb:
In the ministry I work for, we are already preparing another budget. :( We just prepared one before the election was called.

Yep, thanks for nothing Mr. Prentice! The people I know who worked on the budget each spent hundreds of man hours on the last one - odds are it cost far more than the election we just had.

Same here. And it's a layered thing. While people are preparing the budget, there are certain things we aren't allowed to do. There is basically a 'change freeze' in place.

With Windows 2003 set to expire in July, there is work that needs to be done - mucho pronto! Service Alberta will charge the ministry $5000 a year to pay Microsoft to support those servers after July 14th, 2015, for each server still online after that date.

So there are monetary penalties too. :(

Prentice really fucked us over.

Rachel Notely could start by demanding former MLA's reimburse Alberta tax payers for questionable expenses such as a $20,000 phone bill.

The best course would be for the Dippers to open up every single government document of the last thirty years under the freedom-of-information statutes. No inquiry. No investigation. Just full public access for everything that's been done. Let some intrepid reporters or even just interested citizens root through the entire archive as much as they want. It's not like we have some secret weaponry or intelligence information that has to be guarded. Open access would do two things. One, the Dippers won't look vindictive if they go looking for things to prosecute over. Two, what will be found will be the final death bell tolling for the PC's because people will be so pissed off at all the shady deals they cut and all the money they threw away. Lots of us have always suspected that Alberta's one of the most graft-ridden places in Canada, what with the way good ol' boys usually do business. Open up the archives and it'll be proven convincingly.

Sounds like it's their mandate to do things like that.

Alberta's graft still puts them in second place, by a long shot, compared to the Ontario Liberals.
