MLSE still got at least $250 to $300 out of the idiots anyway. $110 for the ticket. Another $100 for the jersey. Another $50 to customize the jersey. $20 for a couple of yucky stadium draft beers. And at least $20 for parking. And there's still a list of people willing to take those tickets and seats off of the hands of the fools who just got banned from the arena for a year. Score still turns out to be MLSE - $300, idiots at game - 0.

I highly doubt I'll ever go to a game again. Costs too much and I've developed a phobia over being in crowds like that. Not my thing anymore, and I'm even too disinterested in sports now to watch it on the teevee. If I got free tickets for a luxury box then maybe. But the regular seats again? Nah, not interested.

PublicAnimalNo9 PublicAnimalNo9: sandorski sandorski: Charging them is ridiculous Why is it ridiculous to charge them for throwing their jerseys on the ice while play was still going on? If a Ref wants to call a Delay of Game, no problem, but getting the Cops involved is simply stupid. Ever wonder why players don't get hauled off the ice in handcuffs after a brawl?

You would have liked the arena in Bratislava before they reconstructed it. 7000 seats, 5 dollars a game, beer cheaper than milk. Was great fun watching Satan, Hossa, Bondra et al. during the strike year. ![Drink up [B-o]](./images/smilies/drinkup.gif)

If a Ref wants to call a Delay of Game, no problem, but getting the Cops involved is simply stupid. Ever wonder why players don't get hauled off the ice in handcuffs after a brawl? Seriously? What kind of dumbass question is that? Once again, and this time I'll try and type slower, it wasn't delay of game, it was an act that could have caused serious injury to a player or official. This didn't happen after the game or during a stoppage in play. At least two were tossed on the ice while play was going on. I'll help you answer your own question. Fighting is part of the game. Generally speaking both parties are willing participants. If you're referring to all out bench-clearing brawls I haven't seen one of those in an NHL game in a loooong time since the league put the kibosh on them. At lower level leagues, I haven't seen anyone dragged out in cuffs but I HAVE seen charges laid after the fact. However, none of that has to do with the fact that some idiot fans at the ACC could have caused serious injury to anyone on the ice. One can argue that fights and brawls are part of the game, right or wrong, but no one can reasonably argue that on ice obstacles from jagoffs throwing stuff on the ice during play is part of the game.

You'd absolutely hate Asian crowds then.

Public_Domain Public_Domain: I went to Toronto a few years ago and watched the Leafs get slaughtered by the Sens 8-2 on April 3rd, 2008. I remember Alfie got hit in the neck and the crowd went full on psycho, cheering. Then the guy stood up and everyone started booing. It was intense to see that kind of two minute hatred so socially, amongst drunks and children. It was unusual as an experience.
I went in full makeup. I like going all out with costumes, that's probably understood here. Jersey, Blue and White face paint, white hair, hat, small car flag. Fucking whole shebang. Didn't really get too many chances to cheer though. While we were in the stands, probably somewhere in the "it's obvious we gambled on these tickets and totally lost hard" territory of 5 or 6 goals against, I walked past two guys wearing the paper bags and gave them a good solid high five. We joked about my personal dedication to dressing like a fucking jackass. Walking away from the event (we stayed until the murder was over) as cars and helpless traffic directors flowed through the unmitigated sea of dismayed Leafs fans, a guy gave me a 3x5 Leafs flag. That was fucking nice of him. These fans could have done something like that. I greatly appreciated it, it was touching and made my day in the wake of what I had witnessed.
I'm still a Leafs fan, I guess. Mainly so I can have something to talk about with people, since you can only talk about current events for so long before people just want to go into a coma. The team sucks. Sometimes, I find myself in downtown Toronto when a Leafs game has just ended and the fans are pouring out into the street. It reminds me of watching the tide going out in Halifax harbour ... all of those jellyfish heading home.

I think maybe people are just missing the perceived danger of a shirt being thrown on the ice. You know they are wearing protective gear right? And they are professional athletes, and people can see a jersey falling from the stands from a mIle away? I am interested to know what you think the chance of someone getting hurt from that is?

Protective gear doesn't protect muscle injuries. Professional hockey is a very fast game with million-dollar assets flying around the ice. We don't need idiots from any City throwing crap on the ice during play that could result in injury with players tripping on or stepping on these things.

I agree with that, and I agree with a one year ban from ACC for being a douche. I just think it is a bit dramatic to talk about how dangerous the jersey thing is when the game involves blasting a 6 once piece of vulcanized rubber around at 100+ miles an hour. It's like "oh my God someone threw a beach ball on the ice. Cover you eyes, hide the cHilden! "
I think charging them was a crappy move and if anyone has a right to be pissed off, it's leaf fans.

Maybe the Leaf's would do better if they used a jersey instead of a puck.
When you're at the bottom, the only way to go is up. However the Leaf's have found a way to stay at the bottom and move sideways. The management couldn't manage a piss-up at a brewery.
