No, it doesn't. Homosexuality, rape and paedophilia are only equated by the uneducated. The three are as unrelated as Heterosexuality, rape and paedophilia if he had been raping a girl.

In general, you're right. But in this case you're oblivious.

I disagree. I've done a lot of reading on the subject. While the cause of paedophilia is unknown, it is known that most pedophiles struggle daily with the sexual attraction to children, and knowing it's wrong to hurt children. Most never act on it.

What's known is that homosexuals are not sexually attracted to children.

The website says that no one will be condemned for their sexual preference, "but everyone is responsible for their sexual behaviour."

"With the help of specialized therapy, men with a sexual preference disorder can learn to act responsibly," the home page says.

That kind of anonymous therapy is impossible in Canada where psychologists are required to keep a complete file — name and address included — of everyone they see in therapy.

Here in Canada, Cantor laments a system that prevents therapists from helping pedophiles.

"It's difficult to imagine such a curse. Who can they tell? From their point of view, they can't tell a therapist, they can't tell their parents, their peers, their boyfriends, girlfriends," said Cantor. "They are as alone as a person can be."

C'mon. If they're the same as everyone else then it only follows that some of them will skew towards kids and teenagers just the same as a percentage of straight people do.

You guys are splitting hairs here. There are pedophiles who only go after boys, or only after girls, or ones that go after either. So there are gay, straight and bi pedophiles same as there are gay, straight or bi normally sexed people.

NAMBLA is made up of gay men who want to legalize sex with boys. So there you go.

Heard a cop on the radio who said some pedophiles only get of on ultrasounds of fetuses - shows you how skewed the mind can be.


Also heard an interesting Ted talk that said psychopaths have a specific genetic predisposition, but then it takes them being involved in extreme violence as a child to trigger them becoming violent. The neuroscientist giving the talk said he has 10 murderers in his ancestry (including I believe Lizzy Borden) and has all the genetic markers. He also has a very high function prefrontal cortex, and did not experiece violence as a child, so he is not a violent person. However people have told him they find him cold and self-centered, and he said because he's a psychopath, he doesn't care.

Brought this up because I would guess with some pedophiles it's a similar situation of diathesis - stress. Ie they are born pedophiles, but it might take them being abused to make them act on it.

OTOH, there are people who will basically go after anybody that's breathing - ie they are not pedophiles, or at least not exclusively so. They just take whatever comes along.
