I heard some CBC or CTV poll of the new motto for Alberta "Strong and Free" conducted on eastern residents, and they mostly thought it sounded 'too American'. I guess they forgot that it's a line from 'Oh Canada'.

And I haven't heard those bitched about for years. The Cretien years, I think. (And the NEP was the most evil thing inflicted on us by Ottawa, ever! Get with the program!)

Strong and Free is the Alberta motto, it's in Latin on the coat of arms "Fortis Liber" and tattoo'ed on my wrist.

Well, if someone hadn't named a political party after them, we could have kept it. 'Alberta.ca' seems so bland. I would have preferred 'Strong and Free', mostly because it pissed off easterners.
