That happens every day. If you think you are much more than a number to the government, you are wrong.

There's a difference between your SIN and having your life assigned a dollar value.

I was not saying that.
I was trying to say (but blame my ESL ) that the government budgets. They don't necessarily care about who needs what and how much. They just budget and that's it. Make it work within the budget... At some point, something's gotta give, and it is not the government.

And as I pointed out to Saturn, they have to budget. There's no insurer, govt or private that's a bottomless well. If we want more healthcare we have to pay more taxes. Nobody wants to do that.

Or you know, the government could quit pissing away billions on screwups like ORNGE, eHealth, LHIN bureaucracy and direct it to the frontline.

Sure they could. But turns out that those screwups don't amount to a hill of beans compared to healthcare expenditures. And any organization will have screwups - it's not like they screw up on purpose just to piss you off.

Don't much care about the "why". What I care about are the wasted billions and what meaningful things we could have done with those funds.

Like keeping patients who can take Kalydeco on the medication for the next century or two.

Lots of patients like that, needs way more money than the system has. Same with the cost of saving the preemies that in the OP. You want all that funded, you're going to have to pay more taxes.
