Andrew Coyne wrote a pretty good article on this.

Andrew Coyne: Justin Trudeau’s gaffes reveal the gulf between his intellectual reach and grasp

$1:
Not everything that comes out of Justin Trudeau’s mouth is simple-minded prattle, though you could be forgiven for thinking so. The Liberal leader has long made a habit of sticking his tongue into the nearest electrical outlet, and shows no sign of giving it up. It is harder and harder to see this as a refreshing candour, or even a dangerously loose lip. Rather, we seem to be tapping directly into the workings of a cluttered and undisciplined mind.

and

$1:
The point is not that Trudeau would, if he became prime minister, impose a communist dictatorship across Canada. His approach to China would be unlikely to differ greatly from that preferred by much of the political and business class, which is that you should cluck about its abysmal human rights record, but not so loudly that it notices.

The Liberals would have had their best chance winning with Marc Garneau, but it was obvious he knew what was going on and didn't give credence to the selection process and backed out.

As I see it the Conservatives will only lose the next election if the NDP and Liberals merge into one party or something really damaging comes out.

Boots defending the Liberal golden boy. Shocking!

Made up controversy? Trudeau is his worst political enemy. He needs to learn how to shut up. When your own words are used against you, it's you that's creating the controversy, not the media.

No, it's totally made up.

He said some admiration (for their ability to build/use renewable energy) and then it's twisted by partisans to make it sound like it's his favourite place in the world and that he supports dictatorships.

But hey, I guess you gotta do something when you print a 'newspaper' like that filled with half-naked women & massage parlour ads and the news network you created to support it is losing money hand over fist.

I guess he`s not smart enough to pick smarter advisors

On CBC’s Power & Politics, Liberal MP Jim Karygiannis criticized the payments offered to veterans under the New Veterans Charter, saying:

Giving somebody a lump sum…that’s like hanging a case of beer in front of a drunk… They get the lump sum, they go and spend it, either trying to buy a house or buying a fast car or spending it on booze or addiction.

In case you can't click for the video, here's how it began.

$1:
We already know what country Justin Trudeau admires most, besides Canada: China.

Not for its culture or history or even its economic growth. He admires it for its political system. That was the question. And that was his answer:

“You know, there’s a level of of admiration I actually have for China because their basic dictatorship is allowing them to actually turn their economy around on a dime and say ‘we need to go green fastest … we need to start investing in solar.’ ”

That’s a shocking answer — factually false about Chinese pollution, morally blind to China’s brutality, ignorant about what values are essential for a would-be Canadian prime minister. But no one in the crowd — this was at Trudeau’s ladies’ night fundraiser — even expressed surprise, let alone objection, to this startling statement.

Neither did the Liberal auxiliary campaign team — that is, the many reporters in the room. Not one media outlet reported the story, other than the Sun News Network.

It was only after the QMI Agency’s story on Trudeau’s gaffe went viral that other media grudgingly reported it. But not all other media — the CBC’s national news waited three days before doing a perfunctory story on the subject, implying that Stephen Harper feels just the same way.

And as of last night, the country’s largest newspaper, the Toronto Star, hasn’t seen fit to write a single word on the matter.

But the news embargo on Trudeau’s gaffe was broken by QMI Agency, and the story went viral. So the Media Party switched from pretend-it-didn’t-happen mode to spin mode...

Ezra, eh! I much prefer this conservative philosopher.

although I couldn't find anywhere where he held forth for 20 minutes or so on the CBC or Justin Trudeau.

So he has a level of admiration for a dictatorship that has allowed them to turn their economy around yet how much admiration can you have for a country with the human rights record that they do?

It was a poor choice of words. A political mistake.

Even Liberals around the Country are coming out saying just as much. Perhaps you'll soon take off the partisan blinders and realize that it was a dumb thing to say.

The man's own words...

Emphasis on "because". What am I supposed to make of this? That he would like a future Liberal government to resort to authoritarian methods, such as command economy, to enact green energy policy?

Could be, but that's Ezra's job - selling his opinion. Loud-mouth, trouble maker is his schtick. It's how he makes a living.

The substitute school teacher, who some call the shiny pony wants to claim he can run the country, and he keeps rattling off stupid gaffes like the top 9 found below.

Could easily insert at least one fist in there with no problem and still have room for a hero sammich. 8O

Highly doubt that I'll be voting for JT any time soon, if ever, but this particular gaffe isn't worth the reaction it's generating. Then again, most gaffes aren't worth the effort that goes into exploiting them no matter who said what the wrong way. It's all just yellow tabloid gotcha! journalism at it's worst, and it should be morally and intellectually beneath each one of us to waste so much time and energy on any of it.

Classic Liberal. Have to keep us (the citizenry) away from our money, for our own good of course.

If they didn't we'd blow it all on things like beer and popcorn.
