So that was an Alberta trucker that caused that bridge to collapse. In BC we've always known that Albertans can't drive curvy roads, but sheesh, you'd think they could at least manage a straight bridge. They have those in Alberta, right?

Thanos Thanos:
The GOP Congress blocked all the program money President Obama wanted for infrastructure repair and revitalization. The blame entirely lies with the phoney fiscal "conservative" Tea Party assholes who spent money like drunken sailors when they were in charge of the government but suddenly become austere fiscal hawks when the other side wins the White House.

WTF are you talking about?

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) was passed by both Houses of Congress in February 2009 and signed by Obama.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_R ... ct_of_2009

The segment of Interstate Five that I used to drive to work this morning is undergoing several hundred million in repairs and upgrades that are being funded mostly by ARRA funds. Sacramento also has a couple of light rail projects that are being funded by ARRA monies.

Unfortunately little things like facts interfere with a good rant.

From what I've read, the tuck was too big for the bridge and hit the overhead structure.

Yet another trucker with a third grade education. Or judging by who most of the truck drivers are around here and Alberta, it was someone for English is a third language.

Even though I'm passing up a chance to razz Canadians about their drivers I'll give the trucker the benefit of the doubt and note that the bridge itself was inadequate for a vehicle that was legally travelling the road. How many more modern bridges did he cross without incident? In fairness to the driver, why should he have expected to have a problem crossing any bridge along that road?

Upside: The bridge is finally going to be replaced and no one died in the process. [B-o]

Read your own links.
That bill covered less than 30 billion in highway and road improvements, and only ~100 billion in total infrastructure spending. Triple that went into tax cuts. This wasn’t the GOP either.

Tens of trillions went to cover the bank’s bad loans and pyramid schemes.

Shortly after the GOP took over the house and started blocking every piece of legislation the Dems put front center.
60 billion for instructure? Blocked.
Do a quick Google search on the 112th and 113th Congress for a comprehensive list of all the infrastructure projects blocked by the GOP. Then look at the bills they proposed.

It’s utter retardation. One side is working to raise the level of discourse, and the other has the combined IQ and maturity of my 6th grade gym class.

BTW, the Dems are retards too. The whole system is broken. One side fights for the super wealthy while pretending to be moral saviours and rallying the ignorant, narrow minded retards. The other fights for the super wealthy while pretending to be socially conscious and rallying the activists and undereducated.

No one fights for US anymore. Most people don’t even agree what US means anymore they have us infighting so hard. Mission accomplished. Kill our education system, divide the populace on idiotic wedge issues like gay marriage, and proceed to bleed us dry.

Fixed that for you.

The richest segment of both Houses of Congress are, collectively, the Democrats.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein recently made news when her husband scored $1bn on a bill that Feinstein supported:

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government ... n-Contract

Making her even richer than she was before.

Funny choice of words given that FDR made it illegal for the working man to own gold.
