ORCAs, KINGSTONs and USS Lake Champlain! Sailed with them all. he Lake Champlain was our host ship in Portland one summer and I had their Command Master Chief over for whisky and cigars on our sweep deck. Grand way to spend an evening.
I seen and been on Kingstons and I think I've seen a USS Lake Champlain (Ticonderoga class right?), but the ORCAs are all West coast and I don't think they've ever been on this side.

When I said I saw the USS Lake Champlain, what I meant to say is that I saw another Ticonderoga-class cruiser similar to that one... don't remember what ship but it was probably out of Norfolk.

Nice. I'm surprised you can actually remember that.

This was our second night there. The first night was the....er......uh......less than memorable one.

Yep. Broke my heart a bit. She was my first ship and my wife and I were married on her.

Well, I'm sorry that I made you re-live the trauma with Chinese subtitles....tried to find another clip to no avail.

Reminds me of the Yukon a bit. The old girl sank on her schedule, not on what others had planned. A few guys I know have gone diving on her

Related question: Does this mean the 57mm on the Frigates is inadequate, since it seems only the 76 inflicted any real structural damage?

57 mm is mostly for anti-air or against smaller surface targets like corvettes, patrol boats, mine sweepers etc. If you're tangling with a frigate or a destroyer with a 57 mm, then you did something wrong.

So IYO, is this inappropriate armament for the Halifax class?

Sure. You could bump it up to a 76 mm, but frankly, missile threat is bigger than a gun battle and I'd rather have a 57 mm for that.
Harpoons are the shizit for sorting out a bad guy of frigate or destroyer size.
