I should check back in my books, but I don't think "pests" were part of the curriculum when I took the Home Inspection course. Structure of the building and safety (hazards),yes, but I don't recall anything about mice. Termites, yes. Mice, no.

You can't get a home inspection in this market. If you make an offer that requires one, you don't get the house.

Strange, I worked in banks for 23 years and we NEVER accepted a mortgage without a home inspection... NEVER.

Before buying my home I also thought it was mandatory, but that's the one thing the bank never asked about. I got an inspection anyway.

Curtman is right. At least a couple years ago when we bought our place out here sellers were all rejecting home inspection (among other) conditions, just because they could. That said the $1 million plus housing market is a different market. I'm not sure if they are moving as fast.

This lady will waste her money suing unless she can prove he knew of the mice and honestly if you can afford that house and you see mice I' sure the prior owner would have "likely' have done something about it. Not too many people who are just fine knowing mice are infesting their houses. Buyer beware!

What gets me most about this story is the fact it would never have hit the news if it was a $150,000 house in Elmwood. Yet we are supposed to care some rich chick has mice?

I was so worried about this poor lady with the mice in her $1M house that I wasn't sure I'd be able to sleep tonight. There should be a link where we can send this lady all of our money.
