BartSimpson BartSimpson:
Thanks for bring those terrible abuses of human rights to our attention, DD. Those Norwegian prisons are horrible! How cruel to expect someone like Mr. Breivik to suffer in a place like that all of the rest of his life!

(And...um...where do I sign up? )

You couldn'tw deal with the mental torture knowing there's all those Norwegians working away to support others and being the happiest country in the world doing it. You'd apply to get transferred to a nice Mississippi prison full of these folks "don't care for the govt, they don't show me anything." "But you get food stamps." "Yeah, but I deserve food stamps."

Maybe you can see it on this link: http://videocafe.crooksandliars.com/hea ... i-out-inte

Andy, what was on my mind is that I'm paying for a cruise in November and it looks like the Norwegian prison would be a better vacation.

Well there is provision in Norwegian law that after the sentence of 21 years is up they can review the prisoner and extend the sentence again for another 21 years and they can do that for 2 or 3 times.

So hopefully he will be spending his entire life or atleast most of whatever is left incarcerated in prison.

But if anyone of my friends or family was the victim I would be pretty ticked off he was spending time in a place like that, although every prison is not like that but they are very similar.

For a mass murderer like him there is no question of rehabilitaton, he should never ever be released not because he cannot be rehabilitated but as punishment for his heinous crimes and that too in a solitary confinement type of scenario, where he spends the rest of his life in a 10 by 6 room staring at empty walls.

Off topic, and I know Norway isn't part of the European Union, but is it feasible for the EU countries to build a shared maximum security prison for the very few criminals as heinous as Mr. Breivik?

Nope. Every country has their own legal system and laws, and in an Easter European country, he might get life without parole, but in Norway, he wouldn't. Since he is a Norwegian citizen and committed his crime in that country, his own country should try and convict him.
Every country has their own prison system, and you cannot pick and choose where you send your criminals, just because someone thinks he will not get the sentence they think he deserves.

Yes, it's called 'Brussels'.

That wasn't him, or his film crew for that matter. It was Alexandra Pelosi (yes, the daughter of the former speaker of the house). FWIW, she also did a comparable piece like that from NYC.

This guy just wants attention. What really bugged me about the whole Clifford Olson incident was the ways Olson could prevert the system in order to get in front of a court or a hearing once again to boast about his crimes and bask in the spotlight. Breivik is cut from the same cloth. A chronic underachiever who, in his mind, has made himself a god through murder, a martyr to some greater cause.

I like attention too but I am not going to kill a bunch of people to get it!
