martin14 martin14:
Almost every serious conflict in human history is control
of land many times shrouded in religion.

Common practise was to convert religious buildings from one
to another, and back again, then mix in your ancestors killed my ancestors,

and it turns into a pretty big mess.

Mixing religions is a bad idea, always has been.

To be sure in this world yes, Religion (and politics) is a very quick way to cause problems among people.

In theory though people of good will should be able to rise above things
like that. The operative word here is "theory".

andyt andyt:
You're doing what the Muslims do - bring up the past to justify the present. If the Muslims are really reaching out, let them invite the Christians to one of their current mosques. If you want to make peace, do you march to the other person's house and demand to be let in, get violent if you don't, or do you invite them to your place in a friendly way? Maybe they'll reciprocate.

No, that's what history does. Don't like it, I don't care. The rest of your slop I don't care. I'm a neutral party here and I don't give a crap about Christians or Muslims. Speaking about present, hows about those child molesting priests? Great example of Christianity, tolerance and otherwise. Don't get me started at that redneck piece of shit Florida Priest...or are you on his side on the concept of tolerance?

In any case, at least the Muslims at the time had religious tolerance (something history doesn't teach about them) and let Christians warship along side Muslims. Hey, its history, it happened, if its something you cant tolerate, too bad.

This is just the Muslims trying to do the camel's nose in the tent thing. Pretty soon the camel's sleeping in the tent and you're not.

Something you're familiar about eh?

Quite frequently Turkish ships berth alongside those of European nations during NATO exercises.

I was talking about the Persian Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan ring a bell. :D

Let see, I'm in Dubai. If you look hard enough on a clear day you can see Iran, and a stones throw from Iraq and that yellow thing on the right of Iran is Afghanistan.

Image

Bases( before 9/11 regular ports aswell ) dock Navy vessels all the time. for all sorts of reasons from logistics, resupplies etc etc. Also many Navy assests patroling the straight of hormuz to keep it free and open so all the nice crude from countries like Iraq, Kuwait, Saudia, Qatar and UAE and get to you guys. Plus Dubai also handles alot of air traffic from Afghanistan. Sometime back I went to pick up a friend from one of the smaller airports and it had many flights comming and going to Kabul at almost 20 mins interval, and most passengers were westerners and clearly not civilian or ex servicemen ( hair cuts and physiques )

Neither did the thousands of civilians bombed to smithereens in Iraq and Afghanistan !

You ask a dumb question, you get a dumb reply. Same goes for posts :D
