http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/27/us/su ... riage.htmlThe US Supreme Court - with moderate Anthony Kennedy siding with the liberals for a 5-4 split decision - legislated gay marriage as the law of the US this morning.
Justice Scalia summed up the majority decision in one powerful paragraph:
$1:
This is a naked judicial claim to legislative—indeed, super-legislative—power; a claim fundamentally at odds with our system of government. Except as limited by a constitutional prohibition agreed to by the People, the States are free to adopt whatever laws they like, even those that offend the esteemed Justices’ “reasoned judgment.” A system of government that makes the People subordinate to a committee of nine unelected lawyers does not deserve to be called a democracy.
(Emphasis mine).
Obama went on TV and announced his joy at this decision.
He failed to mention that he
opposed gay marriage in both of his Presidential elections.
Governor Abbott of Texas spoke today and made clear that the rights of Texans were not going to be set aside because of this act of the USSC. Of note is that his security detail doubled in size today.
At home I have put away my US flag and will no longer fly it because the republic has been ended.
Bear in mind that while I oppose gay marriage and the normalization of sexual depravity in general (which is what has occurred) I have respected the democratic decisions of the few states where gay marriage was legalized by the electorate and not imposed by the elites.
Now we have an elite imposing a Federal standard on the states that opposed gay marriage and it should be noted that no such Federal standard existed before this morning. There is also a body of jurisprudence from past USSC decisions that clearly state that marriage is the domain of the states and not the Federal government.
The USSC has absolutely legislated this act.
And if you folks thought that the US was partisan before this then just wait to see what's next.
