I must be hungry because......
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I keep thinking of the Tea Party and the OccuPIEr groups...oops there it goes again.... as food items in consideration of their makeup and goals.
The Tea Party analogous to a fruit cake...(Xmas -Natale effect?) and the Occupiers , (now stop that!) as a bowl of varied colored squares of Jello.
Ok I get it, a simple case of psychotic transference neuroses brought on by possible low chocolate deprivation symptoms.
None the less.
I mean no.. ..well...not complete disrespect with the comparisons. Certainly a fruit cake depiction of and by itself is hardly complimentary with the make up of nuts and dried up fruits, but on the plus side, it has redeeming features like: A typical fruitcake conforms to a historic recipe for uniting varied elements to achieve an solid conglomerate composed of heterogeneous materials or elements with a distinct goal in mind for both shape and substance. Those in the fruit cake...sorry...Tea Party ...have goals and form and substance. They aren't going off half baked, and they stand firmly to achieve a roundness of objective and a solid expected result.
On the other hand, the OCCUPIERS consist of: Little of substance, mostly without individual goal or shape, moldable and flexile, easily malleable, and yielding to any form into which they are conveniently dropped off. Add to that the lack of anything solid enough for society in general to grasp intellectually or physically and you have...Jello! Jello occupies space, but adds little as it wobbles about intangible near colorless.
Jello Occupiers are simply taking on the aspics of the du jour! Whatever...whatup? ""comme ci, comme ça"", Easy come easy go.
Occupiers are composed of Jello like idioms raised from colored or ? white powder? A tent shape is one that happily fits the Jello general community. Pretty much being the only consistent in conformity. That (Bowl) tent inverted shape will serve anyone's Jello, and with expectations of entitlement to whatever serves their mold. Mold as in fungi, mushrooms and toadstools.
Occupiers are Jello in the hands of manipulators and activists and causes, because singularly they are little but a glass of water or two, added to less than a box of dust. Just stir it a little and it gels, but, it doesn't become a solid anything one could get a hold of, it oozes from one's grasp and
Like Jello, the OCCUPIERS are sadly just too transparent, one can see right through them. Nothing there substantial just the odd beer burp and bubble.
I'll have the fruitcake please and thank you.

I think the gist of it is that, (he argues) since the Tea Party has defined, unified goals it is inherently more valuable than the disparate, nebulous longings of the occupiers.

Or put another way, I think, Tea people have some assets and thus a stake in making the system work whereas the Occupiers do not.

I thought the article was very clever and use metaphors in a most ingenious fashion.
